-Amber- I flipped through a book about herbs. It mostly described where they grew and how to use them, but it offered nothing about preventing a hybrid’s heat. Frustrated, I tossed it aside and let it fall to the floor. I reached for another but froze when I heard the king appear. His eyes found mine almost instantly. I lifted the book, trying to hide behind it as I leaned back on the couch. Even as I heard him approach, I refused to look at him. My body still ached for him, the pull growing stronger with every step he took. It’s just the heat, I told myself, but deep down, I knew it was more than that.
