When I returned to the bedroom, I left the food by the seating area before going to check on my mate. Amber was still in the bath, relaxed and looking as if she wouldn’t mind staying there forever. She opened her eyes when she heard me enter.
“How are you feeling?” I asked.
“Better,” she replied, smiling in a drowsy manner.
“Ready to get out?”
She shook her head, and her smile widened.
“Come on. You can’t stay in there forever,” I teased.
“But it feels fantastic!”
Her words amused me, and for a moment, I simply stopped to watch her. Just looking at her brought me peace. There was no doubt anymore—she had my heart.
“Come on,” I said, grabbing a towel and holding it out to her.
