Kennedy POV The inside of the police station still smelled like burnt coffee, bleach, and stress. The officers kept saying it wasn’t my fault, but I couldn’t stop replaying it over and over—his scream, the blood, the rage in Dominic’s eyes. I hadn’t even realized I was crying again until Kyle showed up, gently pulling me into his arms and telling me it was time to go. “I want to wait until he’s out,” I whispered stubbornly, holding my ground. But my dad stepped forward, his tone soft but final. “Kennedy, we’ll stay. You need to go home, sweetheart.
