Emma’s POV
I took the first table I noticed, I needed this meal so I would get enough energy to murder Josh when I get home, Josh and I have been friends ever since birth, when I moved here Dad was glad I had Josh with me and I was happy I didn’t have to come to an unknown place all alone, I had to leave birth town because it was little and I wanted to explore, I wanted to see the world and I wanted to study, so when I got into New York University, Josh got his admission there too and it was easy convincing Dad to allow me to come.
After I finished college, I got a job, and Josh and I decided to remain in New York, it treated us well but we made sure to always have time to call and visit our parents during the holiday, Josh is the closet thing I have to a brother, I consider him my brother and I’m sure he does the same. Many people have imagined Josh and me dating but nothing of such was true, Josh is gay, he told me two years back after he broke up with his boyfriend and he was gone through a meltdown and needed someone to speak to, he was always afraid to tell others about his sexuality, I accepted him for who he was and that’s all that mattered to him.
“And here is your meal ma’am.” The cute waiter said, I smiled at him and he returned.
I ordered a burger and coke and six chicken nuggets, yes I ate a lot but it didn’t affect my curves, I never added weight in the wrong places or more than necessary which I’m thankful to God for that.
After my meal, I paid and walked out but then the cute waiter walked out right after me.
“Did I forget something,” I asked, I wouldn’t be surprised if I left my purse or my phone, it has happened to me before when I went to a restaurant with Josh and I almost forgot my phone, I can be irresponsible?
“No, just wanted to give you this.” He said with a smile on his face, he handed me a small piece of paper. I opened it to reveal his number.
“I will text,” I said to him which had him smiling before he left, I lied and I won’t text but if I had told him that he would have bothered me and disturbed me and I won’t like that at all then it would lead to unnecessarily yelling and causing of commotion, telling him to stay away from me, I try and avoid drama as much as possible.
I quickly ordered a cab using my phone.
“f**k”. I cursed when I heard the waves of lightning and a rumble of thunder.
Where is my stupid cab, it would soon start raining, and going back into that cafe is not an option, I don’t want that waiter to annoy me with talks, I’m not ready for that not today. I checked on the app again, and the driver canceled the ride, so I ordered a new one.
Please please God.
When the second one canceled the ride, I hugged angrily and started walking, my house is very far from here, so I figured I could walk a little bit and then try ordering a new cab. I’m familiar with the streets of New York, I knew where to follow and where to not. I choose the farther route only because it had more people on it and it was safe, and there were police officers all around.
I walked for ten minutes when I decided to take a rest, I sat on a bench by the sidewalk and ordered a cab again, waiting patiently a car drove to park on the sidewalk, I didn’t bother to look up to see who it is until I heard a familiar voice.
“Miss. Stone needs a ride.” I heard Alexander say, f**k I want expecting to meet him for the second time today.
“No I ordered a cab, it will soon be here,” I replied, I expected him to drive away but he didn’t, he remained inside his car looking at him, I choose to ignore him and continue pressing my phone when I got a notification my cab driver canceled.
It’s like the universe is playing a sick game.
“Everything alright Miss. Stone.” Alexander asked.
“I guess, I would take that ride.” If it were Rose. She won’t even bother to stop to ask me for a ride and if she happened to stop, she would leave maybe rain a few insults on me for rejecting her ride offer but on the other hand is her brother, someone who I can’t still believe she is related too.
Are the rest of the family like him or like Rose, questions ran into my thoughts.
“You look lost Miss. Stone.” Alexander said making me get out of my thoughts, f**k I completely forgot he was here.
“You know I have a name.” I smiled. “It’s Emma.”
“Beautiful name.” He replied which made me smile.
Alexander had an alluring presence, his smile, and the small talk he tried to make with me, it’s making me want to know more about him but I know better than to be friends with a Ricci.
“Thank you for the ride,” I said while getting out. I didn’t expect him to get out of the car.
“Mr. Ricci what are you doing,” I asked.
“It’s Alexander, I’m walking you to the door.”
“Yes, Alexander,” I said, his name on my lips sounded so good, it was like I was meant to say it.
No one has ever done that for me, I didn’t bother to stop him, he walked me to the door, and there was a comfortable silence surrounding us.
“And we are here, I would invite you in but I’m not sure if my roommate is alone,” I said to him.
“It’s fine.” He smiled at me, leaned in, and gave me a peck on my cheek before he left.
What just happened?
