Mary rushed into the house.
"What? How?" Oh, how could I forget that night before my birthday? Sighs; it was a pity Gregory used me.
"I'm pregnant." Confusion and fear gripped me; this news was unexpected. I couldn't imagine being a single mother, plus we were still trying to move on.
"Do you think I should get rid of it?" I asked Mary, but she nodded.
"I know it's scary, but c'mon girl, you ain't alone; we'll figure this out together." She assured me, and I smiled.
Gosh, what could I have done without her?
“Do you think I should tell him about this?” I looked at Mary, “I mean he's the father of the baby and he has the right to know.” My mind was covered with different things. I mean raising a child is not something a mother could do on her own right?
“Oh my gosh come here.” Mary held me and took me to the closest seat, “I don't think you need him but if you think you need him it's up to you.” She smiled at me.
“I…I I'm confused.” Just then all that happened came back flooding into my head as Halen’s words rang in my mind.
"Don't try to ever approach my mate again, Jade. Gregory and I are mates, Jade, and we are expecting our first pup too."
It's like I was seeing her in front of me stroking her flat stomach, making me clench my hands in anger.
Gregory not only betrayed me but also cheated on me, betrayal was the worst thing one can do to a mate, and he betrayed me in every sense—no, he killed me completely, but this baby gave me some sense of hope.
“I don't need him to have a baby, you'd be the dad and I'd be the mom hahaha.” I started laughing loudly and Mary joined in.
Days turned into weeks as I tried to find moments of happiness, distract myself from everything we did on my girlfriend's dates, and have lots of fun. The baby gave me hope for a better future, but the moon goddess only knew how to take my happiness away from me.
On my way to another one of our girl's picnics, I hurried down the stairs, my foot slipped, and I tumbled down, landing with a painful thud at the bottom.
The world spun around me; everything disappeared, and this excruciating pain shot through my body.
Mary's terrified voice echoed in the distance, and soon the blaring sound of an ambulance filled the air.
I whisked away to the hospital, my mind clouded with fear as my eyes went closed.
I opened my eyes to see the doctor examining me. Mary was there, her hand clutched to mine tightly, her face pale with worry.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor's voice sounded with a look that told me all wasn't well. My heart sank as I braced myself for the worst.
"I'm sorry," she began softly. "You've lost your baby."
Her words pierced through my heart like a dagger, and a gut-wrenching sob escaped my lips.
I felt like I was drowning in sorrow.
Mornings turned into nights, and I became a cocoon of despair, crying myself to sleep, tormented by nightmares.
Mary refused to let me live in my misery alone; she coaxed me out of bed. She was determined to lift my spirit, though I was reluctant. We ended up at a local bar.
Mary ordered drinks for us, hoping that the change of scenery would do me any good and that I would forget a little.
I stared into my glass, the liquid swirling within, reflecting the dim lights around me.
I so yearned for a brief respite, a momentary distraction.
And that's when I noticed him... A man who exuded an air of confidence and undeniable charisma drew gazes from all corners of the room, but his eyes were only on me, making me smile. I looked around but couldn't find Mary.
He had the "I'm sorry to interrupt, look..." I didn't know when my lips met his, and he deepened the kiss.
Gosh,
He was so hot, I lost all my senses, and all I knew was that I wanted him.
He pulled back, and his lips tugged up with a smile. It was clear he wanted me to.
He bought me a shot of whiskey, and honestly, it was my favorite drink. I used to steal a little from Mary's brother while growing up. Smiling at the memory, I shot down the whiskey. I started to feel the whiskey.
I was already drunk, but this was on another level, or was it him? I was not sure, but I leaned into him even more, placing my head on his chest and my fingers unbuttoning his shirt. When I couldn't access more buttons, I got up and sat on his lap like one would straddle a horse.
I bit my lip as I looked at him; his eyes zoomed in on my lips, and a small whimper left my lips.
"Let's get out of here, should we?"
He whispered, and I nodded. As he got up, I wrapped my legs around his waist. As he walked out of the bar, I stuck my head in the crook of his neck.
I couldn't find Mary, but, gosh, I knew she was going to be fine. Once we were outside, he headed straight for a white Rolls-Royce.
"Drive."
He ordered the driver before his lips locked with mine.
"Where to?"
The driver asked, causing a growl from him. I was surprised he wasn't human, but who cares?
"Home." He let go of my lips.
He then reclaimed my lips, causing my core to become even more heated.
"I want you,"
