Chapter 1:- Betrayal
Jade's POV
"Are you excited for the party, right, Jade?" Mary's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I was excited and, at the same time, worried about how I hadn't shifted yet and didn't feel my wolf.
Every werewolf was supposed to shift, or at least feel their wolf, but I was different. I couldn't feel anything.
The party started and no one saw Gregory. I was supposed to be mated to him.
"Hello, everyone! Thanks for gathering here, and I apologize for coming late, but I have a reason for it, and I will tell you all what the reason was." Gregory's deep voice resonated throughout the hall and gained everyone's attention.
His eyes always found mine whenever we were in the same space, but right now they were not on mine, not even the slightest indication that he saw or was going to see me.
Seeing her with him was making me so uncomfortable and angry. I didn't know what was going on here or why he was with her instead of me.
He wasn't even wearing the suit we both went shopping for; rather, his suit matched her red-colored gown.
"Today, I am going to introduce you all to your Luna." His words confused me the most.
My heart started beating so fast, and I felt like throwing up.
Murmurs broke throughout the hall, and I could feel everyone's eyes on me, making me more nervous and tense.
"I am choosing Helen as my mate, and she will be our pack's Luna. In a week, we are going to mate officially." I stumbled back in shock at his words; my world went blank.
What is he talking about? He chose Helen as his mate. What about me, then?
How did this happen?
"Jade!"
"Jade!"
I couldn't hear anything as my ears were buzzing, and I was having a hard time breathing. I clutched my heart, which felt like it was being brutally smashed with a hammer.
I could hear everyone's shock and surprise at their Alpha's announcement.
"I think I should talk to Gregory first before assuming anything." Tears blurred my vision, and my words got choked up in my throat.
I couldn't believe what was happening.
What the hell is he doing?
"Gregory!" I called but he totally ignored me.
Helen had a smirk on her face, and she purposely touched Gregory to provoke me, but I just wanted him alone with me so he could explain what he was doing and why!
"Gregory!" I gritted out his name, and this time he turned around. His eyes looked cold, as he had no expression on his face.
"What! Why are you disturbing my time with my Luna?" His words pierced my heart, and I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.
"I want to talk to you alone." I won't give anyone the satisfaction of knowing that I was hurting.
"As you can see, Jade! I'm busy right now. If you want to talk about anything, then come to my office tomorrow." He turned around, dismissing me like I was nothing but a nuisance; I was just trash.
"Why are you doing this, Gregory?" I felt like my energy was being drained.
"You don't have a wolf, Jade, and I want my Luna to have a wolf. Is this reason enough?" He snarled at me before going back to his conversation with his gamma.
I couldn't take it anymore. I knew I was bigger than that, and I didn't deserve everything he was doing to me.
"I will come with you." Mary started following me.
"I want to be alone, Mary. Please!" I didn't wait to hear her response and walked towards the guest room as Gregory and I shared the room, and I didn't want more insults.
Betrayal was the worst thing one can do to a mate, and he betrayed me in every sense—no, he killed me completely.
I heard a knock and the sound of the door opening. My body was glued to the bed; I didn't have the strength to move.
"Don't try to ever approach my mate again, Jade." Helen's voice reached my ears, making me jolt from the bed.
Anger and resentment spread through me after hearing her mock me.
"What are you on about?" I couldn't look at her properly.
"Gregory and I are mates, Jade, and we are expecting our first pup too." She stroked her flat stomach, making me clench my hands in anger.
He not only betrayed me but also cheated on me with an Omega. The moon goddess was indeed generous.
"Get out!" I yelled at her.
"Why the hell would I go? You are the one who should leave the pack house, as you are nothing now." She cackled.
I held her hand and started dragging her out of the room. That was the last straw for my patience and sanity.
"How dare you disrespect me like this? I am going to tell Gregory about this and make him kick you out of the pack." She started babbling non-stop, annoying me with her high-pitched voice.
I pushed her out of my room, withdrew my hand, and turned around to go back inside. Just as I was about to shut the door, a scream stopped me, and I turned back to see Helen stumbling down the stairs. I ran towards her, but it was too late. Her body came to a halt at the bottom of the stairs.
"Helen!" I heard Gregory's voice running towards her.
I went down the stairs, where everyone had already gathered around Gregory and Helen, who were in a pool of blood. I gasped in horror.
"Who pushed her down?" Gregory growled in his alpha's voice, making everyone cower.
"I saw Jade pushing Luna out of her room." One of the she-wolves blurted out, making Gregory's eyes land on mine. They were glowing with anger, and his wolf was threatening to come out and kill me. I could see that all the love I usually saw in his eyes was gone.
"I, Alpha Gregory, banish Jade from the pack. You are not allowed to set foot inside the pack boundary and must
immediately leave the pack." He growled out my fate without any mercy and turned his cold eyes away from me.
I lost everything in one day: Gregory, my family, my friend, everything.
I ran to my room, my hands were trembling, and tears streamed down my cheeks as I threw clothes into a suitcase.
"Jade, are you sure about this? Leaving everything behind?"
I paused for a moment, wiping away my tears with the back of my hand.
"Yes, Mary. It's the only choice I have now... I can't stay here, not after what he did to me; besides, he banished me."
Mary nodded. "Then I'm coming with you. We'll face whatever comes our way together."
"But how would we survive, though? Anyway, we are in this together."
"My parents left me a trust fund. I just found out about it and was about to tell Gregory, We will survive." I wiped my face and forced out a smile.
We left the pack and decided to go to the human realm. Days turned into weeks, and we settled into a small, quaint house on the outskirts of a nearby town. I swear, it was even more peaceful than expected, but something felt off... My body felt different; I couldn't shake the constant fatigue and nausea that plagued me, but why? I didn't know that only a test could tell, and Mary had gone to get the results.
"Jaddy, you're pregnant!"
