PROLOGUE
Lia lived a simple life in the countryside. Her mother owned a small beauty salon, while her father ran a car wash. What Lia never knew was that her father had once been a member of the mafia—and not just any mafia. He was the son of one of the most powerful mafia leaders, whose family ranked second in the underworld.
Her father, Romeo Montenegro, was the eldest of two brothers. His younger brother, Noel Montenegro, had never gotten along with him. Even as children, Noel was rebellious and ill-tempered. His resentment only grew stronger after learning that their parents had chosen Romeo as the sole heir to the Montenegro family's fortune and power.
Instead of fighting his own brother for wealth and status, Romeo chose to leave the underworld and live a peaceful, ordinary life. He worked hard to build a future on his own. During that time, he met the woman who would become Lia's mother. They fell in love, got married, and were blessed with a daughter—Lia.
However, Noel never stopped pursuing them. Consumed by greed, he ordered the murder of Romeo's parents so he could seize control of the Montenegro family's wealth and influence.
When Lia was only twelve years old, she witnessed the brutal murder of both her parents. She could barely remember the faces of the killers, but one detail remained forever etched into her memory—a scorpion-shaped tattoo.
After the tragedy, Lia was left homeless and wandered from place to place. One day, while she was weak and exhausted beneath a bridge, she was found by a kind married couple who had originally planned to adopt a child from an orphanage. Moved by her condition, they decided to take her in.
Her adoptive father was a retired martial arts master skilled in various fighting disciplines, while her adoptive mother was a technology expert. Under their care, Lia learned martial arts, hacking, advanced technology, and numerous survival skills.
Fate, however, was not yet finished testing her.
Both of her adoptive parents eventually passed away after battling cancer. Although heartbroken, Lia remained deeply grateful for the love, guidance, and knowledge they had given her.
Alone once again, Lia decided to move to Manila to start a new life. There, she found an online job posting from an organization looking for new recruits. She applied and was accepted as a spy for an organization known as Black Shot.
What Lia didn't know was that Black Shot was one of the richest, most powerful, and most feared organizations in the country. They secretly eliminated people they believed truly deserved to die, delivering the justice that corrupt officials and even the police could not provide.
Black Shot was owned by the powerful Montes family, led by Mr. Wakin Bueña Montes and his wife, Lolita Ann Rodriguez.
The couple had three children:
Clint Montes (7 years old) – The youngest child, currently in kindergarten. He looks exactly like his mother—cute, playful, and incredibly talkative.
Kairo Montes (17 years old) – The second son and a Grade 12 student. Standing at 5'5", he inherited his mother's charming dimples. Although he can be obedient at times, he is known for being stubborn, mischievous, and uninterested in school. He loves racing motorcycles and cars, which often gets him into trouble. He also has basic martial arts training.
King Montes – The eldest son and the heir to the entire Montes empire—the Number One family in the underworld. Standing at 6'0", King has a cold expression and an intimidating presence. He is highly skilled in martial arts and manages the family's companies, hotels, private islands, and other legitimate businesses. At the same time, he serves as the leader of Black Shot.
King is known for avoiding serious relationships. He is often seen at bars with his friends, paying women only for temporary companionship. No one has ever seen him smile.
But what will happen when King and Lia's paths finally cross?
Will Lia be the one to melt the heart of the cold and feared King, or will her arrival only bring more chaos into his life?
Can love truly bloom in a world filled with secrets, danger, revenge, and justice?
