Chapter 1 :A MOTHER’S LOSS
The loud wails of the queen echoed through the walls of the palace. ‘’No, no, this can’t be’’ she cried as she searched the royal chambers, she stripped off all the curtains, tossed over all the baskets of clothing as the royal maids chased after her. Just then she was informed that the king had arrived from his journey to the Eastern region, she ran out of the chambers and as soon the king got out of the carriage she ran to his feet and wept. He knelt down before her and asked her ‘’what’s the matter, my Queen? Why do you soil my shoes with your tears?’’ she looked up at with him tears streaming down her face and replied ‘’for all is lost my king! The prince is gone! She screamed.
The king was filled with complete shock and despair. He turned to the palace guards and maids’’ Is this true? Don’t tell me this is true. They all nervously shifted in their positions, not knowing what to tell the king, and he got mad at their silence. ‘How could this happen!’’ they all remained silent, are you all deaf answer me!’’ I see you do not fear your life’s, if you did you wouldn’t have let this happen, my only son is gone! ‘’.
Enraged He looked at the queen and saw that she was in complete agony and ordered the royal maids to take the queen back to the chambers where he consoled her. Vladimir, who led the royal guards, was called upon to take on the search for the prince. The knights and Vladimir took off to search the kingdom for the missing baby. Every household that bore a new borne was searched as each child was checked for the royal seal on the back of their heads. The streets swarm with royal knights, every church, every market, and even every bar was searched until finally, the knights returned to the palace at dawn.
As soon as she heard of their return the queen rushed out of the palace but as she set her eyes on them none of them could face her they all had an uneasy look on their faces ‘’where is my child?’’ she asked but none of them answered ‘’you were told not to return until you brought him back to me’’, they all remained silent until one stepped forward and said ‘’your majesty, this is all we’ve found of the prince as he handed her the prince’s woolen blanket with nothing but a blood stain and teeth marks ‘’it was found in the woods surrounding the palace we’re sorry’’, .No! this can’t be you’re lying! , where is my baby!’’,
‘’Your majesty, the remains of the prince were too disfigured for us to bring back this is all-“ Suddenly, the Queen fainted out of despair, and the maids rushed to her aid. The body was never found, and It was concluded that the prince was dead. It was indeed a dark time in the kingdom of Wallington. The only alpha born in decades was missing the heir to the throne was gone.
BOY IN THE TOWER
In a tower south of Wallington in the shadows of Lockwood lived a young boy and his father. One night, as he was being tucked into bed, his father told him the story of the missing prince. ‘’Father?
‘’Yes my boy ‘’ ,his father replied
‘’is it really true that the prince was killed by beasts?’’
His father looked at him and said
‘’yes but don’t worry, as long as you stay here with me, you will always be safe’’.
He waited until the boy was fast asleep before he left and disappeared into the woods. He left every night after the boy fell asleep and would return every morning before he woke up.
The next morning at sun rise, he returned and climbed up the tower for it had no doors but only one window that led to Datura’s room. The tower was, in fact, 20 stories tall and terribly difficult to climb.
‘’good morning’’ muttered Datura, startled he quickly turned around and was surprised to see little Datura awake sited up in, bed rubbing his eyes.
‘’Why are you up so early? ‘’He asked.
‘father where do you go when I’m asleep’’? asked Datura.
‘’there are certain things you need not to worry about ‘’, his father assured him as he rummaged through his bag.’’ But I want to know more about the outside’’ Datura whined.
His father kept silent until he finally pulled out a glass bottle from his bag,
‘’ listen to me boy, he said, the outside world is filled with terrible things and terrible people it is no place for you we’ve been through this you know your illness will not allow it, the less you know the better’’
‘’Yes, I know father, but ... ‘’enough with this’’. Father ordered, cutting him off.
He then grabbed a wooden bowl and poured in the concoction from the glass bottle ‘’now take your medicine he said shoving the bowl into Datura mouth, to make father less angry he did as he was told.
Night fell, and Datura was left alone once again lying in bed staring at the countless stars in the endless dark blue sky’s wondering if he’ll ever see the world beyond these tower walls.
Years went by, and Datura illness grew worse, and strangely, his hair grew abnormally longer as well. By the time he was 12 years old, it trailed behind his feet as he walked, and every now and then, he would trip on it too.
One day as he was playing in his room Datura hear a little twit ‘’I wonder where that could be coming from’’ he thought, he followed the noise until he looked under his bed and there it was, a little bird picking on some crumbs of bread
“hello there’’ he whispered as he picked up the bird and gave it a bigger piece of bread for it to nibble on. Suddenly, he heard grunting and panting coming from outside
‘’ it must be father again’’ he thought. He then quickly grabbed the bird and hid it behind his pillow.
Datura ran to the window and saw his father halfway up the tower, struggling and out of breath. As the years went on, it became more and more difficult for him to climb up on his own.
Datura then looked around his room to find something that could help him up easier and spotted his hair on floor ‘’that’s it! ‘’he thought he then took out his bedsheets from the trunk after his bed tied it up and threw it out the window. The rope immediately wacked his father’s face
‘’for goodness sakes boy’ ‘he said. ‘’What s gotten into you?’’.
‘’ Grab on father’ ‘he replied, and so he held on to the rope as he climbed up. From then on, Datura would wait to hear his father’s voice ‘’Datura my boy. " he would throw out the rope.
he was warned never to leave the tower because the world is a dangerous place. But at night when no one's, there's
he couldn't help but feel something deep within him, a strange feeling a strong urge to jump out that window and run till he couldn't breathe rip out all his clothes till there was nothing left, and hunt till his hands stained of blood.
whenever he took his medication, it suppressed all these feelings. It suppressed his thirst for freedom .
