Distracted by the desire to succeed and perfect the manifestation of the life he imagines with relentless focus, overly ambitious Quillon neglects the one thing that could save him: a true partner. That one mistake catches up with him rather quickly than he planned when Alaric, his supposed partner turns out to be a user and complete charlatan.

In the quest to find an ideal replacement, Quillon falls victim to the deadly trap of Lucian, a glamorous, yet volatile Florida storm with an internalized homophobia, and an obsessive love which was supposed to birth something beautiful and meaningful rapidly turns sour when Lucian reveals his intentions to Quillon and strips him of everything he treasures.

Caught between confusion and resentment, Quillon must decide whether to retaliate, keep searching for better, or simply give in. But the more he goes all in, the clearer it becomes that Lucian isn’t just volatile, but an uncontrollable danger who was ready not just to strip Quillon further, but take his life.

Before it all fell apart
“Hey babe, it’s Sunday let’s go to church together, or do you have any alternate activity on your schedule today? There’s this Parish that I attend, it’s just by the next street and trust me, you’ll like it there!” Alaric suggests as he flung Quillon’s room door open. “Uhhhh…I’ve never attended any church since I moved off campus, and no! I don’t have any serious activity on my itinerary for today, so yes! I’m interested.” “Great!….” Alaric exclaims, clenched his fist and placed a kiss on Quillon’s cheek, then dashed to his room in excitement and returned with his outfit. “I plan on wearing these black pants with this tan shirt. Do they look good? Mr influencer! They look good together…..yeah?” He asked, grinning ear to ear as he teases Quillon. “Yeah they do.” Quillon replied. “I know you got something of this shade. I’ve seen you wear it before and it looks really good on you. I want you to wear it, baby. So we can have matching outfits.” “Okay kiss me if you want me to grant your request…..else I won’t!” Quillon tries to tease him, smiling softly. Alaric looks straight into his eyeball, peeps through the tiny space between the door and its frame before finally shutting it. He pulls Quillon closer, quite aggressively but romantically, and with his left hand on Quillon’s waist, he pats his forehead with his right hand, then strokes his hair backwards and finally grabs his neck before slowly placing his lips on that of Quillon. Everything felt still for a moment, romance filling the air like a dust storm. Alaric’s lips felt really different from what Quillon had imagined. Soft, filling and warm. The grip on his waist felt hard but reassuring at the same time, the type to tell him that he is in safe hands, more like an escape from a looming danger, an escape from the world’s disturbing reality. The kiss went on for about five minutes before their lips went “pop” as they parted. A knock on Quillon’s door ruined the moment. “Who could that be?” Quillon thought to himself as he walked to get the door. “Hi Quillon, where’s Alaric? Is he here?” Isidore asked. Isidore is an artisan who lives in the same house as Quillon and Alaric. Alaric has been in an open transactional relationship with him for over a year before Quillon moved in. But he, unsophisticated and ignorant, thought he was in an exclusive relationship and got jealous at the sight of anybody of the male gender around Alaric. So definitely, with the way Quillon carries himself with so much grace, confidence and dominance, he feared that he might be a threat to what he already had going on. “Yes….yes he’s here, Alaric?….Isidore wants to see you.” Quillon called out like they hadn’t just kissed, posing to be straight and trying to make the bromance appear platonic. Alaric rushed out of the room with fear written all over his face. It was sure that he already regrets his choice to spend time with Quillon, he just doesn’t want to show it yet. “I’m coming! Give me a few minutes.” He muttered to Quillon as he walked past him. Minutes turned into eternity and yet, there’s no sign of Alaric showing up. Except for the deafening silence in Isidore’s room, where they both entered. “What could they possibly be doing that requires so much silence? Or did they fall asleep? Or could it be that Alaric has stepped out? But I’ve been here, I’ve not seen him come out since” Quillon thought to himself. Isidore’s room is just opposite Quillon’s so there is no way on earth that he would not have seen him or anyone go in or come out of it. Also, there’s barely a time when he wouldn’t hear sounds or voices from the room whenever Isidore was home, but this time, it just feels different. He kept pacing around in his room like a lost child as he wondered until Alaric finally comes out of Isidore’s room and dashes to his own room, confirming Quillon’s curiosity. Apparently, they both have been in there, doing whatever and deciding to not make a sound. This broke Quillon’s heart. He got a bit furious and decides to turn down Alaric’s invitation but the moment Alaric knocks on Quillon’s door and asks if he’s ready for church, everything changes again “okay, okay one minute, I’ll join you now”. He happily answers, smiling sheepishly as he rushes to dress up. The church environment was welcoming and friendly, just like Alaric had described, but quite noisy and distant from Virgo's energy which is why Quillon finds it a bit too loud and difficult to settle in. “I really like the fact that you’re enjoying the atmosphere, but can we go home?” “Why? But the service is not over, why do you want us to go home?” Alaric asked. “Yeah I know it’s not, but I don’t feel like staying any longer. Let’s just go….please”.
