The hallway felt too small with the three of us in it. I studied them both carefully. Drake, tense and ready to bolt despite my Alpha command holding him in place. And Serenye, pale and trembling, looking like she might shatter at any moment.
"Whatever you're planning," I repeated Drake's words slowly, letting them hang in the air. "That's an interesting phrase. What exactly did you mean by that, Drake?"
Drake's jaw clenched. "It was just an expression, Alpha. I didn't mean anything specific."
