The moment her panic hit me through the bond, I knew something was wrong. I'd been in my room, trying to focus on game footage, trying not to think about her on a date with that Beta pretty boy. Trying to ignore the jealousy eating me alive from the inside out.
Then suddenly, fear. Sharp and acidic, flooding through a connection that shouldn't even exist anymore. We'd rejected each other. The bond should be dead. Severed. Gone.
