I am now walking on the lobby of thus dormitory. I look around the place. There are few students. Maybe they are already in the cafeteria since it is about time for dinner.
I have lots of questions. I know that we are only here to study and be prepared for our mission. But I can’t help it. I can really feel like there is something wrong here.
I look at the key I am holding. Room 103. Since we are late transferees here, I can assume that there are already people occupying the room.
I stopped walking when I saw the room number. I knock three times before using the key to open the door.
Once I opened the door, two girls welcomed me with smiles in their face.
“Welcome to our simple room.”
“Welcome. Here have a seat.”
They guide me to the sofa and make me sat on it. I just wince. I am not friendly and surely an aloof one.
I looked at these two women. They already wants to be closed to me and they surely act like we are already buddies.
“I am Cassandra Chan, half Chinese, half American.”
Said the one wearing glasses. Looks like a book geek.
“Louise Sevilla is the name, half Spanish, half American.”
Said the other one with braces and she looks like a fashionista. They are looking at me like they are waiting for my introduction.
“I am Kholleen Hower. Transferee. Nice meeting you.”
“Transferee? In this late school year?”
Cassandra asked. I just nodded. They both looked at each other. Worry is written in their eyes and faces.
‘What’s the matter?’
“Are you alone here?”
“No, I am with… uh.. My husband.”
“What?! You are already married?!”
“Y-yes.”
“Well, congrats. We all know that even though you are already married, you have to follow the rules here.”
“We already know that.”
They looked at me. They are dead serious so I can’t help but to feel weird. I gulped.
“I advise you to take good care, a tight one, of yourself.”
“Why?”
“Y-you don’t have to know anything. It is good for you not to know anything about this school.”
“Isn’t it just a school of people with extraordinary abilities?”
“No, not just people with extraordinary abilities.”
“What else?”
Cassandra and Louise looked at me and shook their head.
“Do not ask, Kholleen. It is better for you to know nothing, so you will be safe until, you can come out here, if possible.”
“If possible? Why?”
“Haist! Louise! You and your filthy mouth!”
“Hahahaha. Sorry, I didn’t mean to make stories for you. I just want to welcome you.”
I winced. I thought it is serious. But I can really feel that there is something wrong. I looked at the both of them. They are hiding something from me.
“By the way Kholleen, what is your ability? Are you an old blood or a new-blood race? Or once a normal human?”
Cassandra asked me. I remembered what Astrid told me.
~~ Flashback
‘If ever someone dares to ask what your ability is, tell them that you are just a human and no ability at all.’
‘Why? Isn’t it weird that we are attending the school of extra ordinaries yet you are telling me to pretend as the normal human?’
He looked at me intently.
‘According to my research, people born with an extraordinary ability are included in the old-blood race. Our sixth sense is widely open and we can use it.’
‘Then we are in the old blood race?’
‘I am in the old blood race. This race possesses only one special ability.’
‘Then I am in a new blood race?’
He shook his head. My forehead creased.
‘Then what?’
‘New blood race is just an experimented normal human forcedly open their sixth sense for their own reason. Then we have the so called insane or the black blood race. They are the infected ones that are bitten by someone in the old blood race.’
‘What about me?’
‘You are, surprisingly, the living legend of the extra ordinaries. You are the only noble of the extra ordinaries.’
I didn’t answer him.
‘How did you know all about me as a noble? I didn’t even know it myself.’
‘Because of what you did the incident years ago. You manipulated things, you can read minds, you can even erased or altered selected memories according to what you want it to be. These things cannot be done by any blood race of extra ordinaries, only the legendary noble can. And I am certain that you have more abilities hidden in you.’
‘Then I am a noble?’
‘Yes, and no one should know about it. Not even those crazy scientists. Your blood is the remaining ingredient to complete the elixir they are making. So if ever someone asks you about your race, just tell them that you are in a new blood race. That your ability was forcedly open because of traumatic experience.’
‘Okay, I understand.’
He hugged me.
‘I will never let them get you. We will finish this.’
I just nodded on his chest.
~~ End of flashback
“Hey, are you listening?”
“Ah, yeah. Sorry. I am from the new blood race.”
“Oh, I see. We are all the same here!”
“What caused you to open your sixth sense?”
“It was first opened when I got an accident. They said that it was because of the trauma.”
“I see. Mine was opened because my family is famous for healing extraordinary illness that the doctors can’t explain.”
Louise said. So she is from the healers.
“Mine was opened because of my father, he was once a shaman, and he told me that I should inherit it since, I am just the only child.”
I nodded at what Cassandra said. Healers and Shaman, both families of great ability.
“What is your ability?”
“I- I can.. I can predict what will happen in a certain time.”
“Wow! For real? Just like an oracle!”
“That’s a cool and awesome ability!”
“Thank you.”
They are all smiling at me. Should I trust them?
“Let’s eat dinner.”
“Sure. Let’s go Kholleen, introduce us to your husband.”
“Yeah, sure.”
