《CHAPTER FOUR ; BITTER TRUTH 》

Weeks had passed, and Vanessa had still not gotten over Alaric. She only came down to eat and lately she had gotten sick, throwing up, having dizzy spells and her weight and eating habits had drastically increased.

"Heartbreak makes people fat." Liliana commented as Vanessa sat down to eat a sandwich prepared by Ayesha.

"Not again Lili, you don't always have to comment on my weight." Vanessa sneered, munching on her sandwich.

"Vanessa." Ayesha called softly moving towards her, she pulled a chair out of the corner of the dining table and sat on it facing Vanessa.

"Nessa, I think you are pregnant.” Ayesha broke the news to her calmly.

Vanessa's eyes widened and she shook her head profusely. "I can't be.” she said her words sounding as

unsure as she looked.

"Vanessa, you have been throwing up, eating like a glutton. Your belly has the round shape of a growing baby bump."

She only stared confused at Ayesha, she could not be pregnant and if she was Alaric was definitely the baby's father.

"I think Ayesha is right, I mean look at yourself girl you have gotten so fat and you have been having weird cravings, besides last week you said you were supposed to have your period weeks ago but it still hasn't come." Liliana recounted to her.

Vanessa listened to both their opinions and everything began to come into place, they were right there was a high chance she was carrying Alaric's baby and it made her heart shudder, tears began rolling down her eyes without her knowing.

"No Vanessa don't cry.” Liliana comforted her with a hug.

"How can I....I be pregnant for him.” She sobbed harder, "I am carrying Alaric's baby."

"I mean we can't be sure right? We need to carry out a test first.” Liliana suggested.

"Liliana is right, let's get a pregnancy test done." Vanessa nodded agreeing with Liliana's suggestion.

"I have one in my room, I will get it for you.” Ayesha ran upstairs to her bedroom and took a pregnancy test kit from her drawer.

"Have this." Ayesha handed the kit to Vanessa, "Follow the instructions and use it."

Vanessa nodded, collecting it from her and going to the bathroom.

Liliana stared at Ayesha suspiciously, she was pacing around the bathroom door waiting for Vanessa to come out, when she met Liliana's gaze she raised her dark eyebrows, to ask her what was wrong.

"How come you have a pregnancy kit?" She inquired from her with squinted eyes "Saint Ayesha."

Ayesha laughed in disbelief "Seriously you are asking me that.”

"You have been doing stuff, so you aren't a saint after all " She shook her head with a smirk on her lips.

"I am a nurse you fool." Ayesha scoffed, "I just kept one of these at home since the hospital was in full stock. I decided to keep the last one.” Liliana nodded, laughing slightly, when they heard a loud sobbing coming from the bathroom.

The bathroom door opened slightly, Vanessa used the sleeves of her cloth to wipe her nose.

"It's Positive." she coughed out and Ayesha rushed to comfort her patting her charcoal black hair.

"Well I heard they are correct ninety-nine percent of the time and one percent wrong according to what I have heard.” Ayesha quickly said to comfort her "I have even witnessed such cases, it's better you go for a hospital test.”

"Ayesha is right" Liliana quickly agreed "let's get you to the hospital where Ayesha works.”

"Come on, get dressed." she said and Vanessa nodded silently, hoping that she was part of the one percent of wrong test results.

The drive to the hospital was filled with Ayesha at the back comforting Vanessa, who couldn't stop crying, she couldn't imagine carrying Alaric's baby. If she was pregnant, what would her Aunt and Uncle say to her? What would she tell them? That she had a one-night stand with her ex-boyfriend and she got pregnant. They would think she was a shameless wh*re who kept sleeping with men after coming to the city.

"What if I am pregnant?" she asked herself "Alaric has to know he will be a father."

"Let's confirm that before you say anything to him." Liliana said, parking the car at the hospital's car lot.

Ayesha took Vanessa in for a test, drawing a blood sample and carrying out the necessary procedures, then she only awaited the test results.

"How much is it?"

"I have paid Vanessa." Ayesha told her, bringing in the test results.

"Ayesha you should not have, I have money too." Vanessa lied but she wanted to keep her respect and didn't want to be helped, her friends had already done too much.

"Don't be so proud Vanessa, I am your friend and you lost your job you haven't been able to pay for anything dont worry when you become a rich and famous fashion designer you can pay me back ten times.” Ayesha smiled at her handing the results.

"Have you checked it?" Vanessa asked, her hands shaking as she took the paper.

"No I haven't Vanessa it's yours to check first" Ayesha said as she watched Vanessa open the envelope.

The envelope she held was going to decide her future depending on the outcome of the results, so she slowly opened the neatly folded paper to read the results. Her breath seized on reading the results tears rolled down her eyes as she came to understand the reality of the situation.

"It's positive isn't it?" Ayesha sighed pulling Vanessa into a hug. "Come here sweetheart don't cry it isn't good for you and your baby."

"I have to tell Alaric he is going to be a father. I don't think I can do this alone.” Vanessa cried even more thinking of the father of her baby and the challenges she would face as a single mother.

She ran out of the hospital room, she was going to confront Alaric. Her friends had advised her against it but now she had to, he was the father of her child and he needed to take responsibility for the pregnancy. As Vanessa ran toward the exit she paused on hearing the mention of Alaric's name.

"Isn't that Alaric Kaiser and Klara Von Alder. ”

Vanessa turned, and looked at the large television set up on the hospital's wall.

The sound of thunder shattered through the whole city, Vanessa walked out into the pouring rain her heart bled and so did her whole body, pain and anger consumed her and all the tears she used to shed had turned into anger welling up in her heart.

"I hate you Alaric Kaiser, I hate you so much.” She screamed out in the empty streets of the city.

"I hate you, you ruined my life Alaric I loved you so much but you ruined my life you ruined my happiness Alaric Kaiser.” She screamed louder, taking out her anger on nothing.

From that day onward she swore to herself never to love or trust another man. Never, it would be her and her baby in this world now she didn't need anyone's help, she would become successful and make sure the world would bow and respect her. She was done with being treated badly, all that would end today and a new woman would be born.

“I told you he would betray you.“ she heard a voice declare to her.

“You again.” Vanessa shivered in fear.

“No need to be afraid, I am here for you." The person smirked darkly, extending his hands to Vanessa and she grabbed it.
