Chapter 44On Sunday evening I receive a call from Marjorie, to ask if my mother and Papa will be attending the award ceremony and I confirm that they will. I tell her I want to buy them new outfits for the occasion, but I'm so busy, I just don't know when I can arrange the time for the shopping trip. She finds it amusing when I tell her that Patricia has refused to accompany them on my behalf, but when I explain to her the way my mother talks to Patricia, she can fully understand why.
“Don't stress, Danielle,” Marjorie says, “I'll take them. You tell me what you want to spend and we can settle up later.”
