Chapter 6I'm so glad when my shift is over and I can leave the office and go home. The day has been full of irritating, petty things and it's been boring and exhausting. The summer heat is relentless and the large glass windows that cover the entire front of the main office make the temperature inside almost unbearable. Even with several fans running, the atmosphere is heavy and very draining. The two junior officers who are working for me at the moment, are going to the café for a beer before they head for home. They invite me to join them and I accept. Patricia won't have dinner ready for at least an hour, so it's better if I keep out of her way for a while.
