Chapter 7Patricia and I carry our food to the table, which is permanently placed in the garden during summer. I've erected a structure over it to give shade and a vine that Patricia planted last year is beginning to entwine itself upwards and over the top. Its leaves throw shadows onto the heavy wooden planks below. It's an idyllic setting; warm but airy, calm and quiet, with the only sounds being the occasional buzz of an insect or the rustle of a bird or rabbit moving about in the undergrowth. This is my favourite part of the day, sitting here with Patricia and sharing the delicious food she's prepared. We love each other more than sisters and our love is pure and uncomplicated.
