A year later.......
It's been a year since I was divorced from my husband and was rushed to the hospital for a miscarriage, then my husband's mistress tried to kill me but we didn't have any evidence to send her to jail so the case was left unsolved
The whole issue made me emotionally unstable and my father had to send me to Canada so I would be able to get over everything. Fortunately, with my brothers and Michael's help, I was able to get better and started planning my revenge on John, his family, and Gina. They're all going to pay for what they did to me.
"Are you sure you want to go back to New York?" Sam asked, his concern evident in his tone as we sat in the living room with my father and Jack.
"You know why I'm going back? These bastards need to pay for what they did to me, " I said, a hint of anger in my tone as I stared back at my brother.
"Let us do it for you, I don't want you near those people. Have you forgotten that your ex-husband's mistress tried to kill you? We can't let you do this, " Sam said as he turned to my father, who also wore a concerned look on his face.
"Your brother is right, dear. What if they try to hurt you again? We can't lose you again, " my father said as I stood to my feet and went to sit beside him
"I know that you guys are scared, but I have to do this, and I need you guys to support me," I said as I stared at my father before moving my gaze to my brothers, “I need to do this"
"It seems like we can't change your mind, so we have no choice but to help you, but promise me you won't do anything stupid?" My father asked as I nodded
"I won't do anything stupid, I promise," I promised my father as a smile made its way to his face
“All right," my father said, his expression softening. "We’ll stand by you every step of the way,"
"Sam, what about the things I asked you to do for me?" I asked as Sam pulled out an envelope containing information about John, his family, and Gina.
"Everything you need is in that envelope, i made sure to leave no stone unturned," Sam said as I stood up and went to give him a hug
"Thanks, big brother," I said as I placed a kiss on his cheeks before pulling away to look through the contents of the envelope.
I'm out for blood, and they will never know what hit them, I thought to myself as a grin spread across my face.
A week later, I found myself back in New York, standing in front of the apartment I once shared with John that was now empty because John and his family had moved to a bigger house since his company was doing well after signing a deal with my father's company which I initiated because of my revenge. I wanted to see it so I could remember all the pain I went through to fuel my rage against John and his family.
The memories flooded back, but I pushed them aside. This wasn't the time for thinking about the past and hurting myself. It was time for me to get justice for all the pain they put me through.
Sam and Jack had arranged for me to stay in a hotel nearby while the house they were preparing for me, which was exactly in front of John's home, was being renovated. We were taking every precaution for John not to know I was back before everything I planned was in place, but I wasn’t going to let fear control me anymore.
That night after I was done settling down, I met with Michael, my father's secretary, and right-hand man in a café downtown. He had always been my friend back when I was trying to get better, and now he was my ally in this fight.
"Are you sure you’re ready for this?" he asked, his eyes searching mine for any sign of doubt. His concern was evident in his gaze as he stared back at me.
I nodded, a frown forming on my face as I raised my gaze to meet him. "I’ve never been more ready. What’s the plan?" I replied, a hint of anger in my tone
"We need to gather evidence. Real evidence this time. I’ve got some contacts who can help. We’ll start with Gina." Michael explained as I nodded, listening to everyone as he laid out the plan for me.
Just hearing her name made my blood boil. "Good. She’s the one who started all of this." I added, my anger evident in my tone.
"There is a charity event being held by the company, and John and his family will be there. You can use this to show them that you're back in New York, " Michael said, a mischievous grin forming on his face
"That's perfect Michael, they're going to be so shocked," I said, my excitement evident in my tone.
"Good, I will prepare everything for you, I will be the one to escort you, so no one will bother you at the party, that is till your brothers and father arrive" Michael explained and I nodded in response
"Thank you, Michael. I appreciate everything you are doing for me, " I said as I gave him a grateful smile.
"You're welcome, I'm happy I can be of help," Michael said as a yawn left my lips, "Let's get you back to your hotel."
"I didn’t even know I was tired," I said as I stood to my feet and let Michael lead me out of the restaurant. As we were about to leave I heard a familiar voice call my name but I didn't turn back, the person kept calling me but Michael made sure the person wasn't able to get to me until I was safe In the car.
"I know that lady," I heard the male voice say as I looked up to see John the man who caused me so much pain and torment
"You have the wrong person," Michael said as he tried to push John away from the tinted windows and he tried to look in, "If you don't walk away now I will call the police"
"I apologize, I thought I knew her," John said as he moved away from the car, Michael made sure he was far away before he moved to enter the car.
When he was in the car, he turned to me and asked, "Are you okay?" His concern was evident in his tone as he stared at me
"Let's just head to the hotel, I'm tired," I said as Michael nodded and started the car driving away from the cafe. I can't allow seeing him again to trigger me. He needs to pay.
