CHAPTER 1 THE CITY
Ave's POV
When I got home from the market, I opened my laptop and saw a message in my email. When I opened it, I read that I was accepted for the online application to work at Smith Corporation and that I needed to travel to the city to work there.
So, I immediately looked for my parents to ask for their permission and to tell them that I would be leaving the day after tomorrow for the job. We live in the province and my father farms a small piece of land, while my mother is a hardworking and kind housewife.
They are my loving parents. In looking for them, I bumped into Shawn, my long-time suitor. He's kind and hardworking, but he really doesn't have what I want in a man. "Ohh Ave, where are you going? Let me accompany you, he said with a wink".
I told him that I was looking for my mother and father and that I didn't want him to come with me because he would just pester me about why I wasn't answering him, saying he was ugly and poor, that's why I didn't like him. Sigh, I treat that guy like a brother and that's not going to change. I saw Mother and Father at the hut where the farmers were eating, so I immediately approached and hugged Mother.
Mother: What kind of child are you? You make me nervous, and now you're being sweet again. Do you want something, child?
Dad: Yeah, what do you want? You're being so sweet.
"I want to say goodbye, Dad, Mom. I got accepted for the job I applied for... but... it's in the City."
Mother: Oh my, my child, go ahead and work, but when you have time, come home and visit us, okay? Don't neglect yourself, said the mother while crying.
Father: Always be careful, there are many bad people there, my child. Alright, let's go home now and prepare what you'll take for your trip, said the father, and when he turned around, I couldn't help but notice him wiping away a tear.
We all went home together, and upon arriving at the house, they prepared some of my things that I would take for my trip.
My parents made the most of my time here in the province.I am so lucky with my parents because they took care of me and loved me even though they are not my real parents. They found me by the side of their rice field when I was just a baby, and I had a clover necklace in my hand, which was a sign of my identity. I wish they were my real parents, but even so, I love them so much because they never abandoned me and treated me like a princess.
This is the day I'm leaving, and my mother burst into tears. It hurts to see them like this, but I dream of this to save money and come back here for them. While on the journey, I think about my future and hope everything will be alright. Until I finally dozed off.
