Episode 1 / chapter 1 : “Once Upon A Time”
Once upon a time, in a world filled with both light and darkness, kingdoms and territories were created but at a cost. The cost was far greater than any side had anticipated but it was too late to do anything.
There was once a world
There was peace
There was light
There was joy
There was equality
There was love
There was life
But like everything, nothing good lasts for long.
So there was a piece that wasn't filled
A hole in the world
A part that was filled with darkness
Filled with greed
Filled with despair
Filled with sorrow
Filled with pain
Filled with sadness
Filled with cruelty
Filled with hatred
Filled with death
Like everything in universe and life in general, nothing was perfect. What made a world good wasn't perfection but was
the kindness
the good
the joy
the light
That would spread into the dark and not forcefully but gently change it...no not change it but show it love, joy, and things that weren't gained by hurting others but by loving them.
To live without fear that was the purpose.
To live peacefully and to have joy.
To love and to be loved.
To be treated with kindness and to treat others with kindness.
To be given the light and to give others the light.
That was the promise but the promise was now long forgotten and was known, not to many, as the forgotten promise or as the broken promise for it was broken that day. The day that wasn't remembered by many but was the day that made them forget. That was the start of 'myths', 'legends', and 'fairy tales'. What they didn't know was that those stories weren't just 'myths', 'legends', and 'fairy tales'.....they were reality, but then again what is reality to begin with. Thus, the story goes on to tell the tale of the forgotten and promises made.
And even now no one remembered.
For everyone had a part that was filled with darkness, greed, hate, pain, sadness, and more that might swallow us whole or drown us for that matter. That part of us was a reminder of the promise...a reminder of what we have to accept and light.
Not many lived that day the promise was broken, no one was left to tell the tale or to be exact to want to tell the tale.
And that was left forgotten.
Deep in the different kingdoms and territories, the people grew distant...some died, some lived, and some were born. The world changed...was it a bad change or a good change ? No one could really answer the question.
That was the tale that was never told.
Layna had read this story for the hundredth time. But she could never get tired of it, her parents had read this over and over to her when she was still a child. It was one of the few things she kept or more likely could keep since she practically just took it and not showed it to anyone after her parents died, not that she had showed it to anyone when they were alive.
She didn't want it to be taken away like the many other things that had been taken away from her by her so called care taker, Ms. Mave. Layna had no idea were the other things of her parents had gone. But luckily, she had managed to hid as much things as she could find and this story was one of them and for that she was grateful. She also managed to hid some of the necklaces her parents had given her but sadly not all. Her two favorite ones were her moon necklace, which she had different phases of the moon to attach and a glowing lantern or a star on all of the phases, and her heart necklace which had her parents photos and a small tiny paper that her parents had gave her. She had most of the time wore those two necklace on her, since most of the time she wore clothes that were really big for her and wouldn't show her necklaces. Those clothes mostly were hoodies and sweaters or shirts that covered her neck. She could never put them in her room or her pockets since she was afraid Ms. Mave would check them.
Layna had never been a coward, afraid, or much of sad person. She was cheerful, bubbly, happy, optimistic, and never seemed to be upset or crying. She always remembered people telling her why is she always happy but she would always tell them "what's not to be happy for". Well, she now knows. She hadn't laughed ever since that day her parents had died. No it was for them she had laughed and smiled.... they were her light.
They would probably be disappointed in me for being like this. But how could I not, I miss them.
Layna kept thinking over and over again.
"Mom and dad, I will try for your sake...just for the both of you" Layna whispers from the spot she was sitting at staring at the stars.
She had yet again sneaked out of the house and was in her usual spot where her parents had always came with her to when she couldn't sleep. She had always had nightmares back then of creatures....of people she had no idea who they are, she would always be there seeing events unfold while no one being able to see her even though she could move around and hear them and even sit next to them. Seeing the stars always calmed her. Made her feel something other than pain, sadness, or fear....it for some odd reason comforted her. Made her feel like her parents are here with her, the feeling of not being alone. This spot was her safety, it felt enchanted. She might be imagining it but then again this place had everything she found comforting. It was filled with many types of flowers, a beautiful lake, and a tree that had her name carved on it and her hand print. She was currently leaning on that tree. It was a beautiful tree that changed colors with the seasons, she had thought that maybe it was a cheery blossom tree but she wasn't really sure.
Layna sighed as she looked at her watch
It was already way past 1 am and she had came here at 12.
I have to get back to my room before Ms. Mave decides to randomly check on me or gets suspicion about what I am doing....or one of the people that she has everyday decide to check the house while she is probably drunk and wasted.
Just thinking about that made Layna uneasy because she knew for a fact that it could happen again...what happened last time didn't end up good but thankfully she was there in her room before they had went to her room.
As she walked through the forest and was near the back of the house were there was a fence creating a wall around the house, she then turned off the flash light she had with her in case someone sees the light.
She starts climbing up the fence carefully making sure not produce any noise. She had memorized doing this that now even though she couldn't see that well, she was still able to climb up and back down.
Then she sneaks to where her room is located through the stairs she had placed before she left. She made sure to take the stairs with her so Ms. Mave wouldn't get suspicious. The she finally got to bed and fell to sleep too tired to change out of her clothes.
