A Sacrifice

    The ugly man looked down at the child, satisfied. He was obviously glad he was the right man hired for this. The little boy didn’t dare open his eyes, even though the man was only inches away from him.  

    The man sighed. Their job wasn’t fully done yet. It was just the beginning. The bigger task was the older child. This woman was a real pain in the a*s and this was hard. He would get a lot more after he get her. 

    The half broken door, opened and entered another man in his late 30’s. He looked a bit similar to the child, laying on the sofa beside his brother. In fact, it was clear they were relatives. 

    “Father is here, he wants to see the kid”he pointed at Cody, with a cigarette in his hands. 

    “Go, I’ll follow you there”the older guy replied, taking the little kid in his arms. 

    As he reached the living room, he heard his father’s voice. “You got the kid, I heard” he mentioned. From his way of talking, Ben quickly knew he was smirking. 

    “I did, dad”he walked in, grinning. 

    His brother, Audrey, rolled his eyes. He knew Ben like the back of his hand. He would do everything for money. Such as k********g a 7 year old boy. Not like Audrey wouldn’t do that too. 

    “Nice!”their father replied with his usual smoky voice. Ben walked towards him with Cody still in his hand. “Give him to me”his boss and father commanded, raising his eyebrows. Ben hesitated as he was doubting whether to agree or not. His father could simply not giving him any money for the trophy he just got. “I. Said. Give me the boy”he repeated, clearly mad. 

    Ben gave up and handed him Cody. The scared boy was laying in his arms with his eyes closed. He was frightened that they would see through his act. He knew these people were dangerous.

    “Where did you find him, ehh?”his brother hissed, slowly so their father wouldn’t hear him. 

    “On the street behind his school’s building. Why would you want to know?”he questioned, turning around with one of his eyebrows raised. 

    He walked over to where his brother was standing. It was obvious how much tall Ben was compared to his handsome younger brother. Audrey was also tall but nothing compared to his giant, bulky brother. 

    “Curiosity”he shrugged, turning back his attention to his father. “Do I at least get to take the beauty from her house?”

    “No, that’s my job. You just take care of our reckless sister, she’ll seriously get us in serious problems with the president. She is always against him in everything”he scolded, remembering the scene his sister made a week ago. 

    “Karen is a reporter, it’s her work. Leave her alone. Just like she does, she doesn’t care about us at all, we should do the same.”

    “But if she got in trouble then who does she have except us?”

    “Good point”Audrey nodded. “Anyways, I’m going over to Freston’s, he called me this morning and said that he had made a new g*n. I’m excited to see it”he winked, leaving Ben alone with his father, and Cody of course. 

    “So dad”he opened the conversation he had been waiting for. “Isn’t there something you forgot about?”

    “No there’s nothing. I’m not paying you if I don’t see Carmen planted here under my feet”he replied, pointing on the floor. 

    “Well but I deserve an award for knowing their address and bringing Cody here all on my own, don’t I?”

    “Good job, that’s all what you deserve. You found out everything with the help of my money. Now go and bring the girl before it’s too late.”

    Ben frowned. Too late? What did he mean by that. Was Carmen going to travel? She would never travel without her brother. 

    “What is that supposed to mean?”

    “Hurry up before your brother beat you to it”the father winked. 

    “He would not. Remember we’re the only ones who know her home address. Why do you want Audrey and I to fight? ”Ben said, calmly, walking over to to the table and taking an empty cup. 

    “I didn’t say I want that. I guess the bird has told him.”

    Upon hearing his words, Ben put his beer back on the table and spun his head to his father. 

    “You told him! Why would you do such thing? You know that reckless son of you would kill the poor woman and get away from it easily!”Ben screamed as he glared holes into his father’s head. 

    “I don’t care if he killed her. That woman deserves everything. She has taken my brother away from me”Landon replied with a simple shrug. 

    “Listen dad, if anything happens to Carmen because of you or your stupid son, trust me you’ll regret living.”

    Ben threatened and headed to the door. He had to arrive there before Audrey hurts the woman he loved.

    “Ms. Anderson, where are you going?”the principal followed after Carmen. 

    “Tell the police they can go, I think I know where Cody has went to”she replied, taking a cab. She gave the driver her home’s address and hoped she was right. 

    Soon enough, she arrived. Carmen walked out and faced the man she had came to see. 

    “Carmen, my dear cousin!” Audrey chirped in, excitedly. 

    “I don’t have time for you, where’s Cody?”She asked sternly, getting straight to the point. 

    “You don’t seem surprised at all!”he chuckled “With my favorite father.”

    “Your ‘only’ father” she corrected, rolling her eyes at his silly jokes. 

    “I actually came here t-“he said as he was walking closer  to her. 

    But Carmen quickly interrupted him with the painful blow on his face. It threw him back a few feet away. He held his face in his hands, laughing. 

    “From when are you this good?”

    “I’m not the same vulnerable and weak lady, Audrey. I guess taking my father’s advice was a great idea. Don’t you remember him being one of your disgusting g**g for a whole year, well I got an advantage from that”she said, staring at her knuckles as if they were a mirror. 

    “Oh the father you killed” Audrey mocked her with his signature annoying smirk. 

    “You know exactly  what happened so shut the f*ck up before I do something you’ll regret”she shouted, poking his chest hard. 

    “Long time no see”a new voice called. Carmen spun her head backwards and much to her dismay, it was the person she was dreading to see. 

    “Ben”she hissed slowly. 

    “Audrey.”

    “Tell me where is Cody right now!”she said, walking over to him as he slammed his car door’s close. 

    “Home with father. You know there’s only one way for saving him”he grinned from ear to ear. 

    “A sacrifice”Audrey mentioned, nodding his head. For the first time, both brothers were agreeing on the same thing.
