“Chapter 2”

“Marcy POV”

Cooking is one of the things I love doing best, waking up exactly 4:00AM everyday is my daily routine. Somehow today was different maybe it because am a senior now or cos this is my last year in “Golden High”. Cos I overslept till mom had to wake me herself.

Here I am right now almost done getting ready for school. My full name is “Marcy Lane”. My dad died when I was just 8yrs old leaving me and mom with a cute little brother named “Henry”. I loved my portable little family of three. So good so far mom hasn’t try having a new family aside us she cherish nothing.

Am actually in my sweet sixteen alongside my two best friends ( Calvin & Vic).

We’ve been besties since “junior high school” , and none of us had ever trying breaking the bond between us tho I had a secret little crush on Calvin; I mean who wouldn’t aside the part he was my best friend, and his so cool ?, friendly, half intelligent-half dull headed smiling at the thought of that. The only smart one among us is Vic.

We attended same class all through, same department, and same course/subject. We’re like triplets.

A little touché up with my face, dress and am all set up for school ?. Jacking my backpacks and jogging out of my room to peck mom goodbye ? cos Calvin will be here soon.

“Hi mom” I greeted

“Bye mom” I added quickly and rushing out

“Won’t u eat or take something before going” mom shouted running to me

“Am good mom, I still have some savings aunt Becca send me last summer “ I replied stopping Calvin’s Uber driver

“Ehhhhhnnnnn mí gbó eeee (ehnnn repeat urself) “ mom said in our local dialect with a bewildered look spread across her face probably surprise I still had some changes left

“Talk later mom” I said lastly and dive in the car.

“Wtup Bes” I greeted

“Hey princess” Calvin replied with eyes focus on the car window

“U can never change with this early mood of yours” I said

“So how come u’re this early cos I expect u to go back on our agreement” I added

“I would have except I lied to dad am helping Mr Daniels review our homework’s” he said laughing silently at himself

“Wait really, u told a lie and u didn’t get caught tell me about it” I said switching to a gossip mode

Well it took us 10mins to get to Vic’s, who was still eating when we got there tho we pull him off the dinning seat before he finish his meal.

And so we ride to school with us gisting about life, unnecessary things, boys and girls, home, school and singing any stupid song that cross our minds till we reach our school gate. Heaven knows this driver is heading to church to thank God for we finally reach our destination ? am not gonna start on the looks he gave us while we’re making hell noise in his damn car, ? nor talk about his lip biting cos he couldn’t probably stop us from talking or shout at us.

Settling the man, and walking through the beautiful “Golden High School Gate” with arms spread on each other’s shoulder.

“Finally” Calvin mouthed

“Finally what?” me & Vic said simultaneously

“Well this is our last year, and we’re finally a senior P.S no more labor for us” he said with a sigh

“Labor, seriously your excuse is labor. When all we have to do that day is clean our classroom cos it the cleaners day off” I replied with sarcasm laying each words.

“And it once in three month” I added with an amusing look on my face

“We all know Calvin is the lazy one among us” Vic said peeking at the new half-cast girl our school just admitted I don’t know.

“Lemme guess you love her already, and yuh gonna approach her tell her u like her, and then ask her out , she says no then u completely forget she exist am I right?” I asked knowing the answer.

The bell rung for assembling.......

“U ain’t goin’ after the innocent girl until we’re done with whatever they call this morning assembling of a thing” Cal ordered with a stern look

“Aye aye captain” Vic replied with his left hand held in a salute manner while backing off slowly, and successfully runs off to meet the girl.

“Am gonna kill him one day” Cal said

“Am off to the ground you coming?” I asked walking away from our class corridor

As y’all know the name is Mercy Lane already. Tall, light shinny skin with a very dark brown eyes, and ambitious. That all you need to know about me for know with time you’ll get to know me better
