Chapter 1
I watched out the passengers windows as the wind of San Diego whipped past us at high speed.
I tried convincing my parents that we should move to San Diego and live there and start a new life.
We had arrived to the airport some hours ago and we are now in the taxi on our way to our new home.
When the car finally came to a stop, the silence between me and my mom was definitely overwhelming.
“Grab your things”. Your furniture and other decorations should arrive in some hours. My mom said smiling as I nodded non to aware of the battle raging inside of me. Would I fit in? How was life going to be as a newbie. Would my neighbors love to make friends? All these thoughts raced through my mind as I grabbed my things and went after my mom.
I scanned the whole neighborhood but I couldn’t see past the brownish enormous modern house that stood before me. It was a three story modern house and extremely wild. A few yard from our house was a another one, almost the same size as ours except the house was white with a gate around it while our was a grey-ish modern house with a underground pool. Yes, you heard right. Our house had a underground pool.
The inside was unexplainable. It had a big living room, big kitchen and big backyard with an underground pool and two staircases, one on the right and the other on the left. This house was amazing because my eyeballs as big as they were almost popping out of its socket.
“I see you like the house.” My mom commented.
“Mom! I love it. Oh gawd. Mom you didn’t mention it was gone be this beautiful and big!!!” I exclaimed,” where’s my room?”
“It’s the second floor on the left, fourth door on the right.” My mom spoke lifting up her head and I smiled, running up the stairs.
I got a big room, two glass windows laid out in front of me meeting at the corner of my room to reveal a nice view of the pool. I let my suitcase down. The furnitures for my room haven’t been delivered yet but still, my room was gorgeous. The bathroom in my room was even amazing.
I began running downstairs, running out to the pool. I needed a swim.
I walked past the big kitchen and living room. I didn’t even take a second glance at the huge jacuzzi. I undressed to my bra and pants and threw my clothes on the chair. I dived into the pool and began swimming to the other side of the pool.
I floated in the water because it seemed more like a better option. It provided me opportunities to think.
I needed a friend around here.
How would going to school here feel like? Would I be made fun of? I’ve had read a lot of books from teen novels, so I knew about the part where the girl always gets in trouble with the queen bee. True, it might be made up but it seemed real. In the book, if you wanted to stay out of trouble you just had to avoid getting noticed. That was exactly what I was going to do. I would stay to myself as I could.
I had braids in my hair. My hair got wet to the point the braids fell across my face. I was brown, short, brown eyes and full plump lips. I was a beautiful girl.
Did that matter?
No.
I was in the pool for a long time thinking about anything and everything. I finally decided to get out the pool and go in. I grabbed my clothes when I heard a voice from behind me.
“Todrick Miller but everybody call me Twin”
In shocked I turned around.
“Oh” Right in my front stood a shirtless dark-skin boy. He had chocolate brown eyes. He had dreads in his head. He was tall. This guy was fine.
“Huh” I asked fazed.
“That’s my name.” “He said”, I am Todrick Miller but you can call me Twin. I live at the house with the gate around it.”
I scratched my head feeling nervous. “I am Lexus.” Lexus Walker we just moved down here. I would love to put on my clothes, do you mind turning around?”
“Sure.” He replied taking time to drawl the last two letters. “But I would prefer you like this anytime, any day.”
I almost fainted. “Turn around please.” Trying to look unaffected at the way his eyes raked my body. He had no shame. When he did turn around, faster than the flash. I pulled on my shorts and almost tripped but held myself. Good lawd! “Is that how you welcome visitors here? You can look now.”
“Oh” He smirked,” you’re new here?”
“No, I am new there.” I snapped, “You didn’t hear the part where I said I just moved here?”
“Forgive me” He said laughing nervously, “my mind was preoccupied with other things”.
“I am.” I replied curtly, desperately wanted to get out of here. “So, see you later.”
“Wait” He stopped me, “what do you mean by I am. You are what?”
Was he for real? “I meant to say I am new here. And can you please stop looking at me that way?”
“What way?” He asked innocently. “you’re looking at me too.”
“I wasn’t”
“Then how you know I was looking at you if you weren’t looking at me? You a spirt or something?”
“You’re so dumb”. I eyed him up and down.
“You too”.
“Talking with you is a waste of time obviously,” I said and he just grinned.
I didn’t wait to get a reply as I walking in the direction of the house and into the kitchen. I walked straight upstairs to my room realizing everything has been unpacked. My furniture was scattered out everywhere. I clearly had spent a long time in the pool.
After being phase by the baby blue decorated room. I went straight towards my closet and grabbed my pajamas I had. Finding one I felt comfy in. I plopped down on my bed thinking about what had just happened outside by the pool.
Twin was hot
I had to admit.
