The crowd spills out on to the street after the screenshow. The lights will stay on for thirty minutes before the area becomes dark. The screenshow runs once a week with a different show each time. It uses up a lot of power, so they shut everything off soon after it finishes. Even with solar panels installed on rooftops, the community is still conscious of conserving energy.
‘Hey, Saxon! I didn’t know you was here, mah friend.’ Elgee grips my shoulder, then punches his fist against me in greeting.
I grin at my childhood friend. ‘I didn’t see you in there.’
Elgee looks between me and Anastasia. ‘Problee too distracted.’
Anastasia stands on her tip-toes and kisses my cheek. ‘Thanks for the bubbles. I’ll see you later.’
