The light hurts my eyes, but I see Kerina in the distance. I grit my teeth to make sure I stay upright. I try not to sway from the pain in my ribs. The Agent raises his weapon and points it at me. Ryen leans into Kerina and says something. Vera raises her weapon and points it in my direction.
‘Release him first,’ Kerina calls out.
‘Come closer,’ says the Governess.
Kerina approaches. As she gets closer, I see she has her eyes fixed on me. She stops halfway.
‘That’s close enough, now let him go.’
The Agent hauls me to my feet.
‘You can both walk at the same time,’ says the Governess. ‘Don’t do anything stupid or my Agent will put a bullet in the back of your precious Saxon’s head.’
