‘Just listen! Go out there, make sure the Governess is distracted and not searching for Kerina. Send Vera back here while I wait with Kerina.
‘I can get out on my own,’ says Kerina.
Ryen ignores her. ‘Send Vera back. Then make sure the Governess sees you once more. After that, grab Elgee and get the hell out of there.’
I stretch my neck from side to side. I wrestle with leaving Kerina behind, but know this is the best option.
