I came home covered in blood with my puppies trailing behind me. Thorn was standing in the living room with his arms folded across his chest. "What?" "Where have you been?" I snapped. "Your not my f*****g father." "Cyrunia I was worried. I'm your male, I'm supposed to protect you." I rolled my eyes and walked away. "I can protect myself. Also I going to shower. I have a date with the girls tonight." "I'm going too." I growled low. This s**t was getting old fast. I missed the freedom I had when I was single, but I have to ride this s**t out for a whole year. After I was showered, I did my hair and make up. I gave myself a once over in the mirror while Thorn dressed himself. "Why don't you go out with your friends?" "I just might. Maybe even meet a nice female." I slapped him and walked out. The nerve! He makes a big fuss about protecting me then says he's going to scout for females. "This is why I don't trust males! You all lie about mate hood!" I stormed out of the house. I felt bad for slapping him, but this was too much. Once at the club with my friends I received a text for a domestic issue that needed my skills. "I'll have to take a rain check girls. Duty calls." They cheered at my retreating back as I walked out of the club. I headed to dress I received and busted down the doors. This was a mafia manor, and to a clean one. The smell of fear and s*x was everywhere while the tang of vaginal blood permitted my nose. I burst through the door to find a very pregnant female being tied to the bed. The smell wasn't from her but this had to stop. I killed the men and freed the girl. She was young, fifteen maybe sixteen. Either way I gave her some money and told her to go home or to a shelter. I cleared all the rooms of the house, making my way to the smell. When I found the source I felt a pang of sadness. A small girl was chained to the wall and covered in her own period blood. "Hey, sweetie. Are you ok?" She was weak. "You've finally come, my guardian angel." I broke the shackles and handed her to another girl who was running by. After I killed the remaining men, I made my way to the hidden safe room. I pried the door open and grinned a wicked grin. The human had just got done beating his wife and child and was pacing just as I arrived. "Your savior is here." The woman carried the child away as I ripened the man limb from limb. As I was leaving, I found her cowering in a closet. "Ma'am. You can leave now." "No, he'll find us. He always finds us." She was shaking so bad that I couldn't tell if she was terrified or about to have a seizure. Maybe even both. "Honey, you'r ok now. Here. Take my hand. This blood on me, it's his. You're free." She slowly took my hand while holding her daughter tightly. When we got out the police and the woman mother were waiting. Dozens of family reunion were happening. "Miss Cyrunia. Why am I not surprised?" "Hello detective Greene." "As expected you get the glory for this huge bust." Sterling nodded as I walked away. As soon as I saw the news vans I vanished. I appeared at the door step of the house I now shared with Thorn. When I entered and he saw me I knew I was in for an earful. "If you say a gods damned word I will end you." "You'r ruining my reputation! My parents just called. One more incident from you and I lose everything!" That was it. "Get out." "Excuse me?" I got closer to him and put my bloody hands on his chest, shoving him. "I said GET OUT!" He turned, storming out of the house and out of my life.
SIX MONTHS LATER
My dogs were growing up happy and healthy, playing in the back yard. I occasionally thought about Thorn. Maybe I was too harsh. Then again he blamed me for all the problems he was having. It wasn't my fault that an Elves reputation was everything. I didn't ask for this. He spouted all that nonsense about being my mate only to turn around and treat me like that. Then this. Six months of silence. This was just too much. And people wonder why I don't trust males. I went to my moms house for visit the next day, hoping to find some comfort, only to see Thorn's truck. I walked into the house but was met with a hard slap to the face. "Get out!" I held back the shocked tears that threaten to pour out. My mother was looking at me with hatred and disgust. "You stupid girl. You really think you can leave Thorn and still call us your family?" "Cyrunia...." A familiar voice called out my name. A voice I had hoped to never hear again.
