"This needs to end," I repeated, keeping my voice firm despite the hesitation I felt deep inside. My wolf Tina whined softly, urging me to stop, but I ignored her. "Whatever arrangement we have... it's not healthy for either of us."
Rhysand's emerald eyes burned into mine, his face betraying nothing. The silence in the car was unsettling, the weight of his gaze pinning me in place as if daring me to take back my words.
"I need to focus on my Beta duties," I continued, pushing forward. Every word felt like a struggle, but I refused to falter. "I need to build my position in the pack. I want to be recognized for my contributions, not as..." I hesitated, my voice softening, "not as your temporary distraction."
