SANDRA The Village Witchchapter 1 Mother and father had gone to the farm earlier that day with my oldersiblings, Mercy, Alexia, Josepher, Lambris and Calista.I had chicken pox so i was left at home with Gregory. Gregory was mycousin and she lives with us in our little thatched house in thevillage. My parents didn't want to leave me but they had to harvest the maizeat the farm before it dries up or get eaten by birds.Gregory didn'twant to watch me but he volunteered so that when my parents have gonehe could go with his friends to swim and avoid farm work.So as soon as my family went out,he came to my room and told me hewas leaving."there is some food in the kitchen if you get hungry later . I will beback soon" he said as he dashed out.he knows i wouldn't report. The chicken pox made me fall into anuncomfortable sleep and when i woke up i was hungry. I went into thekitchen and saw that jacky, our dog was eating my food."oh no. What do i do?" i say as i walk away from the kitchen.As i came out of our kitchen, i saw Mr Victor. Mr Victor was an old manwho lived alone. He was also a family friend who we shared a fence with."Chioma, how are you, i heard you have chicken pox so you couldn't goto the farm today" he said"good afternoon sir, i am fine""good...so are you alone?""yes sir""you don't look happy, what is wrong?" he asked me and I told himabout my food that our dog ate so he told me not to worry as he wentinto his kitchen and brought me food.I was just twelve years old then so i didn't think it was wrong toeat the food he gave me. And he was a family friend. So i just ate thefood.I never knew that was the beginning of my end. Chapter 2Gregory came home an hour after i ate the food and i told her about how Jacky ate my food and how Mr ogoh was kind enough to helpedgave me food from his house but he didn't seem to care. He just rushed to the kitchen to cookour evening meal before my parents came back from the farm.When our parents got back, i told them about Mr Victor giving me foodwhen jacky ate mine. I didn't tell them about Gregory leaving thehouse.I didn't want him to get in trouble so i told them Gregory wassleeping so i didn't want to wake her when jacky ate my food. Myparents were thankful for the help and decided to thank Mr Victor thenext day.Later that night when I fell asleep, i had a dream. I saw my selfamong a group of people wearing black gowns. I was the youngest thereand it was so scary. I looked around and saw Mr Gregory there. He came to me and i cried for him to take me home but he said I shouldn't cus i was now among special people and thatthey will make all my wishes and requests come true.This made me stop crying.I saw it as an opportunity to help my family, so i askedthem to make my father rich.They gave me a calabash and asked me to put it under my parentsbamboo bed. They told me that it would make us rich. They also warnedme not to tell anybody about them and the calabash, or my father woulddie.I accepted the calabash then i woke up. At first, i thought it wasjust a dream but then i saw an identical calabash by my bed.I usually sleep beside Gregory and she was still asleep so i tip-toedout of our room. I took the calabash to my parents room and put itunder their bed.The next morning, i was so excited and proud of my self for helping my family. Before going to the farm, my mom had taken me to Mr Victor's house to thank him forhis help the previous day.They had no clue what he had done to their innocent kid. Chapter 3Three days later, my mother's scream woke me up and I ran to thier room only to my mum and other siblings crying and I saw my dad in bed and his right leg was decaying and hat maggots all over it of which my dad was fine the previous night so I couldn't understand what happened. I remembered the encountered I had with Mr Victor so I rush there to confront him immediately to know what he has done because all i wanted thenwas for my father to be healed.When i saw him I was so furious and I asked him what he has done to my father and he said it was my fault.. He said i didn't place thecalabash rightly and now my father would die because of me. They nevertold me how to place the calabash so i was confused. But as a twelveyears old naive child i didn't know i was being manipulated.Mr Victor sent me home and told me he would make my father better. Healso told me, i was a bad person who made my father sick.I went home feeling guilty, not knowing what to do or how to save my father and my family from this situation but before I could get home my father was already death.I felt guilty for what happened to my dad and after my dad was berried his spirit couldn't let me rest,I had to tell my mum to get a pastor and when the pastor came I confess and ask my family for forgiveness and that's how Mr Victor's cult was destroyed and things went back to normal again.
