I ran out into the palace gardens to see Kai pacing along the grass. When he saw me, his eyes burned with fury, but he tried to tame it even now.
“So… Orsa really hates your chamber doors?”
He managed a small smile.
“Actually, that was me.”
I raised my brow in surprise. He must really have been royally p*ssed off. He looked embarrassed as he admitted it.
“I’ve broken more than a few doors in anger,” I said, smiling.
He returned my smile gratefully. The stars were out in full force in a cloudless sky.
“Do you want to go to the hammocks?” I suggested.
He nodded and I followed his lead to the small cluster of trees where they hung. We lay on the ones adjacent to each other and gazed up at the bright night sky.
