A fantastic view appeared from behind the glass of a luxurious penthouse. The city lights twinkled and accompanied Rayden as he was lost in solitude there. Seemingly calm, his mind wandered to many thoughts.
Seeing her husband daydreaming, Giselle, dressed in a satin kimono that revealed her cleavage and long, flowing brownish hair, felt strange. It was because Rayden had been standing there for quite some time. She then approached, hugging her husband, who was still her best friend's husband, from the back.
“What are you thinking about, darling?” asked Giselle in her pampered tone.
Rayden turned his head. He smiled slightly but didn't say a word.
Giselle cupped the face of her husband, who had a thin beard. “This is our first night as a married couple. We should enjoy it. Shouldn't we?”
Rayden touched both of Giselle's hands. “I know. But I wouldn't be able to sleep if I left Gwen out there.”
“You said she was with your people.”
“That's right.”
“Yes, that's it. That means he will take her to a psychiatric hospital.”
Giselle's words seemed to make him realize he did not need to overthink. After all, Gwen could not have escaped from him. She was trapped.
Giselle stood on tiptoe, draping both hands around her husband's neck with sparkling eyes. “Our wedding day was a mess. But that doesn't matter. The team has already clarified to the media and even without that... the public will be able to judge.” She tilted her head for a moment. “People with mental illness can't control themselves. The public sympathizes with us.”
Rayden smiled slightly. “Really?”
“Of course. You wouldn't have seen the news.”
“I have been too busy.”
Giselle slipped her hands inside Rayden's shirt, feeling every curve of his gorgeous muscles. “We don't have to hide anymore. We don't have to worry about our pleasure. We can always be together, too, Rayden. You have worked hard.”
Rayden's eyes seemed to be glued to Giselle's every move, which was undeniable if the woman was sweet and very good at stealing his attention.
“Starting tonight... the world belongs to both of us,” Giselle whispered.
Without needing to say a word, Rayden nuzzles Giselle's neck so hungrily that the woman blinks in pleasure under the moonlight displayed on the large glass of their penthouse.
Gwen opened her eyes repeatedly with her energy not yet fully gathered. Her vision was still blurry and her eyelids felt so heavy. She wanted to open her eyes fully, but she couldn't.
Then, there was a faint sound out there. It sounded like someone was cooking.
“Huh?!” Gwen woke up in shock.
It was the smell of cooking that woke her up. Then she looked around the room.
Gwen realized she woke up in a single bed and a small room. There were posters of old bands plastered all over the place, some toy cars were also displayed on the table. It was a boy's room.
“I'm sleeping in Jordan's room?” Gwen's eyes widened. She immediately clung to his body while remembering what happened between them. “Am I drunk? Nothing happened, right?”
“Nothing bad happened.”
“Huh?” Gwen had to jump to the end of the bed in surprise when someone entered the room.
“Oh my God... you look tired,” an old woman said as she approached.
“Who are you?”
“Let's go out to eat first!” she invited.
Damn it, it was Jordan-that cold brought Gwen to her parents' house. But it wasn't so bad when Gwen found tons of food on the table.
“Enjoy!”
Out of respect and hunger, she quickly ate what was served. Many of the foods she had never eaten before. Even Gwen widened her eyes in amazement at the authentic flavors.
“Is it good?” asked Jordan's mother.
“So good!”
“Thank God... you were exhausted last night when Jordan carried you from the car.”
Mom's words instantly made Gwen choke. She quickly took a sip of mineral water. “Wh-what? Jordan... Jordan carried me?”
“Yes.”
“Am I drunk, Ma'am?”
“No. You are just tired after eating pasta.”
Then Gwen was silent for a moment, remembering the previous sequence of events. She frowned when she realized that she didn't see any memory in Jordan, even though they were already holding hands. Why can't I read it?
“By the way... where's Jordan?”
“That's right. I am with her, Mr. Rayden,” Jordan said. He stood politely in front of Rayden's desk. There on the couch was also Giselle applying her makeup.
“Good job. Then bring her to me immediately. I know you are still very useful.”
“Unfortunately, only for a night.”
Rayden straightened his seat along with his widened eyes. “What?”
Jordan gave Rayden a stern look. “She ran away.”
“Could you lose her just like that?” Rayden was dumbfounded. “You are very strong and powerful, Jordan.”
“You must also know... Lady Gwen was betrayed by the closest person to her. She doesn't trust me easily either.”
“What do you mean?!” protested Giselle. “Are you being offensive or condescending?”
Jordan turned to her with a cold stare. “Why are you offended?”
“Because he's the real villain.”
The voice startled all three of them. The figure dressed in a brown tweed blazer entered the office followed by security struggling to contain Gwen, who had broken through.
“Let it go!” said Rayden, signaling the security to let her go.
Gwen, the beautiful white woman, took off her sunglasses. Even Jordan, who always looked flat, was dumbfounded by Gwen's sudden arrival.
“Why? Are you surprised?" Gwen chuckled.
“What are you doing? Security should take her to a psychiatric hospital!” screeched Giselle.
Bruh!
“Argh!” Giselle screamed after Gwen hit her with the bag. “You should be in the asylum, b***h!”
“You took my property, husband...” Gwen corrected her sentence. “The stupid man that once was my husband. If you want it, you should just take it!”
“f*****g lunatic!” hissed Giselle, about to hit Gwen, but Rayden held her back.
“It's simple. I want to live my new life. I also don't care about those saying I'm crazy and need a change in this company,” Gwen sat back on the sofa in her husband's office where she used to work. “I am indeed crazy. But don't bring me back to the asylum. Let's just live with each other. How about it?”
“After all, your obsession with taking me to the asylum is just to prove to the public that I am crazy, right?” she continued.
“Fine. But go far away,” Rayden replied.
“Rayden!” shouted Giselle.
“I like that. I don't trust anyone any more anyway,” Gwen continued, glancing at Jordan. Then, looking back at the couple. “But I just want to remind you... crimes will be eliminated on their own as garbage in the ocean. They will pull themselves up, no matter how long it takes.” He chuckled. “Don't forget that I can also return to my place.”
