After having that conversation with Ruiz, it felt like an imaginary weight was lifted off my shoulder. I had been living in tension and it felt like torture, but hearing him apologize and agreeing to give me my freedom felt so good.
I wanted to see if he was serious about letting me go wherever I wanted, so I decided to tell him I was going out to the mall. I wanted to shop for some new clothes, shoes, and accessories.
