Chapter 1- Flashy, Devilish and Really Filthy Rich

2117 Words
It has only been a month ago since I got engaged with my first love, and it has only been a month since mom met her first love again. It's hard to believe that I am now under the sunset in Boracay attending her wedding. Dad died 3 years ago, and I witnessed how mom suffered for a long time. At first, I was against this wedding and even in their relationship. But she showed me in the past month that she was the happiest with Paul Montenegro, the former CEO of Golden Mont Hotel. Girls giggled and some were flustered when a flashy tall guy in fitted black suit walked in the start of the ceremony. His hair was being blown by the wind, but it didn't make him look less appealing. His lips curled up when our eyes met, but it didn't appear a smile to me; instead I think he was smirking. The best man for that wedding is Montenegro's one and only heir. I heard the name before, but it's the first time I'm seeing Sean Montenegro. No disappointment at all, he definitely looks like the society playboy that girls would die for. The groom made his way to the center isle, and people gave him a round of applause. I kept my eyes in the old man who stayed fit at 52 years old. He's looking good in white suit and comb over hairstyle. Mom was bragging how rich and intelligent he has always been. Whenever she talked about her teenage years, her eyes sparked as if she's being brought back to the past. How can I go against them if she's as happy as that? My eyes focused on the bridesmaid who walked after him. Following her is the maid of honor who was my mom's bestfriend. My cute niece who served as ring bearer graced the wedding followed by the pretty flower girls. The wedding is attended by the richest business personalities who are acquaintances of Montenegro and Lopez. I didn't foresee that mom would wed first before me. Now, I have to postpone our wedding to next year. "Are you okay, babe?" Warren Uy, my fiance, asked when mom started walking. Tears started coming out of her eyes when she looked at the man waiting for her. I took a deep sigh to calm myself. For sure, dad is gratefully staring down from heaven while witnessing how happy mom is at this moment. The priest started the ceremony, and everyone was paying attention to the way the people of that hour stare at each other from time to time. I only noticed the tears in my face when Warren wiped them away with handkerchief. What I am feeling right now is a mixture of happiness and sadness. How can love touches one person twice in her lifetime? Did she really love dad? Seeing how happy she is now, it made me question if she was this happy when she married dad. My friends were present in that wedding as well. On our way to reception, Daniela, Jade and Phoebe walked with us. They were taking pictures and talking about how fast this wedding happened. I know. It's true that life is full of surprises. I have no regret of giving my blessing for this wedding. Mom's happiness seems to extend up to her soul. "I just have to answer this call, babe." Warren excused himself when his phone rang. He has always been dedicated to his career. We were in college when I met him, and it has always been his passion that I find the sexiest about him. Architect Warren Uy came from a family of engineers and architects. At first, he was just trying to fill the expectations of his family from him, but he came to love what he's doing. And now, he would invest everything he has to be successful in this field. The hall was filled with red lights which gave me headache. Loud music didn't help. I walked away from the table of my relatives to where my friends were sitting. From the look in their eyes, I knew that they were already talking about the people around. "Where's your fiance?" Daniela Smith asked when I took the chair beside her. "Doing his thing. Thanks for coming girls despite the late notice." I almost can't hear my own voice from the noise in that hall. A romantic old song was playing in the background. "Anything for you and auntie. Anyway, have you talked to your stepbrother?" The smile in Jade Valencia's face meant something else. Sean Montenegro is just the type that my girl friends love to play with. But I feel something strange with that man. I crossed my legs and reached for the glass of alcohol in that table. "He put so much effort in ditching all dinner appointments with me and mom before the wedding. From that, I can tell that he's not in favor of our parents' marriage, but just like me, he doesn't have the power to stop it. Why would I talk to him?" I finished the glass with one shot. They stared at me for a while before Phoebe Fontanilla laughed awkwardly. "He looks approachable, Chunsa. We have watching him since we arrived here! Girl, he stands out among all the guys in this hall! Can't you try to be nice to him, so you can eventually introduce us to him?" I rolled my eyes. "No. He looks dangerous. It's better to stay out of his life." I searched for a waiter, but I can't see anyone. When I stood, I felt the stinging pain in my legs from the heels that I am wearing today. I walked to the table where the wineglasses and alcohol can be found. It's a good thing that Warren isn't here to stop me from drowning myself in alcohol. The barista assisted me. I requested for a cocktail that's not too strong. The night is still young, and I don't want to miss out anything. When I turned around, I lost my balance but a broad chest caught me before I completely fell on the ground. I felt the shaking of my knees when my eyes went up to the face of that man. "Damn." I cussed as I pull myself together. I put the glass of cocktail in the table beside and looked at the white dress that I'm wearing. It is now stained with alcohol from the glass that my stepbrother was holding. It smelled so strong which made me more annoyed. "Not even thank you, but damn?" It's the first time I heard him talks, and I felt a little flustered with how commanding his deep husky voice sounded. I gave back the grin he gave to me when he walked as the best man a while ago. "You should be sorry first." I stood straight, so he will see the big stain in my dress. My face was lit when his eyes went down to my chest and downward. He scanned me from head to toe before he took a deep sigh. He must have gotten the good genes from his father. His high-bridged nose and red lips were captivating. Those dark eyes and thick brows made him look superior like he will never accept defeat from anyone. "My fault. Maybe I should have just let you tripped." My eyes followed his right hand when it went up in the air. Not too long after that, a woman in late 20's came to him. He didn't break our eye contact even when he talked with her. "Take her to my room. I have spare ladies clothes there which you can let her wear while you wash this thin dress." He instructed the woman. She could be his secretary. I didn't notice that my brows were raising while listening to him. He talked so dominantly. I cleared my throat when he stared down my body again. "W-why do I need to go to your room? And I'm not asking you to w-wash it. I just want to hear you say sorry!" Mmy voice became loud. I want to sound confident like him. His jaw moved when he smiled sarcastically. He reached for something inside his tuxedo. My jaw fell when he took out his wallet. "What happened was unintentional. How much is that dress? I'll pay the whole price and additional fees for the cleaning..." I didn't let him finish. "Are you showing off your money now?" I laughed. All guests here have the money he's trying to boast. He looked around as if he was checking if we are already catching attention. Does he even have an idea who I am? "I won't say sorry before you say thank you. The easiest way to solve this is to go with my secretary and wash that piece of cloth you designed your body with." He was about to turn around, but I spoke again. "I don't know if you're just trying to act ignorant, but in front of you is your stepsister, Mr. Montenegro. Are you usually rude with anyone?" For some reason, my whole body was shaking as he crossed his arms in his chest. The reek of alcohol from him made me feel drunk. "I must be one unlucky guy to have you as my stepsister." His jaw moved again. It seriously looked sexy. I avoided his gaze and took a heavy sigh. So he really has no idea that I am not part of his family now. I made it clear from the beginning that I will never change my surname into Montenegro. I anticipated that the unico hijo of their family will not be so welcoming to me. "I'm more unlucky. See? It's a disaster even before we're formally introduced to each other. I'll go with your secretary to end this argument. And I don't need your sorry as well. I know so many people like you, rich but has no manners." I walked to the direction of exit. I will just text my friends and Warren that I am in a situation. His secretary guided me to the presidential suite. So he's one of the occupants of these limited rooms. The interior design was not disappointing. If Warren sees this, he will be amazed. The interior designer focused on the color and edges. No paintings were hang, but the tall plants were captivating enough. "Please stay in that room while I'm washing your dress. There are two paper bags containing clothes in his bed, you can use that for the meantime." I smirked when I walked towards his room. It's obvious where he would use those clothes. Can't he control himself even just on the night of his father's wedding? He's planning to bring two girls here tonight! It took almost an hour after my dress is completely dry. She gave it back to me and guided me back to the hall. When the elevator opened in the hotel lobby, my eyes grew big. Warren was walking behind Sean Montenegro. His cheeks were reddish and his eyes were already sleepy. He put down his hand that's holding a phone when he saw me. "Are we good now, stepsister?" He blocked my way, and I hate how his question sounded sensual. "I owe the words thank you only to your secretary, and not to you." He gave me a singular laugh. I am already 5'10, but he's way taller that he's looking down while talking to me. I took two steps backward to give distance between us. "I hope we meet in a nicer situation next time. Enjoy the rest of the night." He looked down to my dress again before walking the distance to the elevator. And that was the first time that alcohol smelled so sexy in a man. I gulped several times before approaching Warren whose eyes are asking what happened. "What was your call about?" Instead of explaining what happened, it's better to divert the topic. "We got the deal that I've been working since last month! Sorry, babe, but I have to fly to US as early as Thursday for the contract signing. Will that be okay?" A big smile is painted in his lips. If he's happy then I won't meddle with his things. "Sure, Warren. I'm so proud of you!" I granted him a kiss in the cheeks when he pulled me close in the waist. I bite my lower lip when I couldn't fight the urge to look at the way of elevator. I saw Sean looking at me before the doors of lift closed.
