A Tale of Two Strangers

Chapter 2- A tale of two strangers Sebastian Sebastian resisted the urge to laugh as he watched the cleaning lady topple out of his bed to the floor, allowing him a very generous view of her butt cheeks before she is trying to cover them on his hard wood floor. He just looked at her silently letting her collect herself a little as she swept her luscious brunette hair out of her face. He really didn’t have time for this but he learned bedside manner and even though he felt insulted by the events that happened earlier in the evening he waited patiently.  She stood up from the floor with her arms wrapped around her to cover herself more than his tee shirt did, but she was failing. He noted her long legs and blazing green eyes, they were something.  “What is your problem? Do you just pull any random person into a conference room like that?” she sputtered clearly annoyed. “I was supposed to be at the blood and pathogen conference,”  He kept himself calm and measured, “You were getting ready to go into that conference room, I just assumed you were another attendee.” She sighed, clearly annoyed, “Yes, I was but that is only because that is the conference room they usually hold the blood and pathogen seminar every year. Clearly, they moved it this year. Maybe you should pay attention and realize I had cleaning scrubs on, clearly not a doctor.”  He felt a stab of irritation, “I was in a hurry and figured that you were lost,” Sebastian moved closer by a couple of steps, “and clearly you are not taking care of yourself, if you are just passing out at random like that, you could have injured yourself. Not to mention you were soaked to the bone,”  “Who changed my clothes?” she looked at him with defiance but there was a flush creeping slowly across her cheeks.  He sighed inwardly, so many questions. “I had my cleaning lady change your clothes, so no I did not see you indecently, not that it would honestly matter.” Sebastian laughed dryly, “After all I do cut people open for a living, there is not much of the human body I have not seen.”  Drew Drew breathed out a breath of relief; not that she had never been seen naked before. However, this man was ten times better looking than her last ex and not to mention much more refined. She studied him for a moment, taking in his neat and tidy appearance. He was no god, but he certainly would have been able to pull off the look if he were playing the part in some movie. Though this knowledge made her more nervous in his presence, he exuded power and confidence.  She looked around for her scrubs, she didn’t see them. “Um, I had clothes, can I have those back and I will be getting out of your hair.” Drew looked at him again, still well aware of her scantily clad figure hovering near his luxury bed.  “Your scrubs were dirty and soaked, I had them taken away.” He stated deadpan, like this was the most normal conversation he ever had. “I had some brought in from the hospital and my cleaning lady to pop out and grab you some underthings,” Sebastian gestured to a stack of scrub neatly sitting on a chaise in the corner of the room. “Do you need anything else? You should rest more often, so you do not faint like that again. You may not be so lucky to have me there to grab you next time.”  Drew shook her head no, looking at the scrubs on the chair that were neatly pressed and folded. She didn’t really know how or why all of this came about but the sooner she was back in her own apartment, the better.  He turned when he saw she didn’t need anything else and quietly exited the bedroom leaving her alone to change. She saw him take out his phone as he stepped into the hallway, clearly about to make a call.  As soon as she could hear him talking on the phone and the door was closed firmly behind him, Drew started changing out of his tee shirt and into the scrubs and underthings he had set out for her; she had to give his cleaning lady some appreciation for the fact that the clothing she chose fit perfectly. The underwear were a soft material and the sports bra was obviously high end. She wanted to pay him back for them both, it was a bit much. However, she can only imagine the state her clothes were in when he dragged her into the conference room to begin with. She took her hand through her hair to tame it the best she could and stepped out of the room rather than waiting for him to return.  The hall was decent with tasteful art prints on the walls, there were several doors down the hall but she cautiously tip-toed forward towards what looked to be the living room. The room was huge, no detail spared, as it looked out to the spectacular city out below, the penthouse was obviously on the top floor and private, there was a fireplace lit on one side of the room and a huge sectional as well, though Drew did not figure he was much of one to have guests over.  Drew jumped a little when she heard Sebastian clear his throat, he was standing by the bar separating the living room and kitchen. She focused on him then, almost wanting to memorize him. Not like she would see him much after this or at all for that matter, he was in his own league and she hardly qualified to even sit at the table with him.  He brought her out of her thoughts, “I have my driver waiting downstairs for you, to take you home.”  Drew nodded. He started towards her, she resisted the urge to back away. As much as she was drawn to him, she wanted to keep her distance as well. There could nothing good come of her being close to him. He stopped in front of her, close enough for her to smell his cologne; something earthy, but with a light note of something she could not quite place. The smell of him was intoxicating. She had to stop getting drawn in. She jumped a little as he placed some tennis shoes in her hands. Drew looked at her feet, which were still bare on the hardwood floor beneath her. “Oh right,” she said quietly.  She looked up without really thinking about it into his aqua-colored eyes. Drew noted that his eyes looked like they were laughing, while he kept the rest of his face a mask. This man was a puzzle, what was so funny.  Drew wasted no time in backing away from Sebastian and his intoxicating aroma. She slipped the tennis shoes on and noticed her wallet and personal belongings on the side table, she pocketed all of that and started towards what she would assume was the exit. He followed behind her, “Do you know where you are going?” he asked, clearly amused behind her. She stopped then and about startled again when she felt him bump into her from behind; her face burned by the accidental contact.  She could feel his amusement as he said, “why don’t you let me lead you downstairs to my driver,” he reached around her and side stepped to come around her to open the front door to the penthouse. She felt frozen to the spot but shook it off and walked out the door with him.
