Once outside of the penthouse they walked down the hall, Drew following behind Sebastian to a set of elevators that would lead them down to the parking garage where Sebastian’s driver was waiting. Drew entered the elevator with him, thinking to herself about how he really did not need to follow her down.
In the elevator it felt almost too intimate to Drew, she looked down at her feet, glancing at him from a curtain of hair that fell into her face, he seemed too close and she felt herself getting nervous. He stepped in front of her and hit the pause button on the elevator. She kept looking down aware of her own breathing as he came to stand in front of her. Drew felt him grab her chin gently and lift her chin to look up into his eyes, her heart fluttered. She was just trying to get out of here without affording herself anymore embarrassment. She had to work with him even, there was a chance she could run into him again, so she had to make this easy.
“Why won’t you look me in the eye?” he asked the curiosity on his face, he was looking over her face trying to read her.
“We work at the same hospital, this is pretty embarrassing enough, I just want to go home and rest.” She replied not really answering his question.
She could see him analyzing her face, which made her heart hammer all that much more against her rib cage. He came in closer, like he was inspecting something, his eyes almost level with her own, her breath caught somewhere between her lungs and her mouth. He then released her chin and chuckled, “Yeah, seems like we were in an odd situation back there, don’t worry, we may not even see each other again, I work on a different wing of the hospital I am sure.”
Sebastian backed away and hit the button on the elevator which caused it to roar back to life and Drew took a deep breath, not realizing she had been holding her breath in that moment, why did he have to get so close. There was no doubt that the man was good looking but she could not even entertain that idea. They were on different planets for all intents and purposes.
Drew sighed when the elevator finally stopped at the garage, she stepped out behind Sebastian. He led her to a waiting car that was clearly every bit luxurious, a black Rolls Royce, newest model. A smartly dressed man came around and opened the back door for her. Sebastian smiled and waved her in, “I wish you the best, but maybe stay out of the rain next time.” he chuckled as she got into the car. At this point she was just determined to get away from him before her mind could wander back to his eyes and the fact that she was pretty much naked in his bed.
Sebastian’s driver shut the door and moved to get into the driver’s seat, she rolled the window down to wave to Sebastian one last time. “Thank you for your time,” she said as she waved, playing the professional as the car started rolling away. Once out of sight of him, she leaned back against the seat and sighed in relief, that man was dangerous to her very being. A dream and a fantasy all wrapped into one. Pretty much way too much of an idea for her to even contemplate.
Drew leaned forward and rolled down the middle partition that separated her and the driver, she wondered if the driver knew her address. “Um,” she started awkwardly, “Do you need my address?”
The driver looked up at her in the rearview mirror, “No, miss. My boss gave me your address before you came down.”
“Okay, thank you.” She responded; rolling the partition back up, wondering how Sebastian got her address. She leaned back and pulled out her cellphone, there were texts from her friend in the laundry at the hospital. Her friend, Maria was frantic with each text message. She was freaking out because Drew did not show up to the conference and clearly worried. Drew responded that she was tired and would explain at work the next day. There were also several missed calls from her dad. She dialed him back, worried that she had left him for too long after his nurse had already left for the day, considering how dark it was out now.
“Drew?” Her dad answered the phone almost immediately.
“Hey, dad I am sorry I am running so late, something came up with work. Have you had dinner?”
“Yes, I have. The nurse left some for me before she left for the day. Are you okay honey?”
“Yeah, I just got delayed due to the conference I had to attend today, I am on my way home now dad, go ahead and get some rest, you have some appointments tomorrow.”
“Okay, sweetheart.” He said with fondness for his daughter.
“Goodbye dad, I’ll check in on you when I get home.” She said with a sigh and hung up her cell.
She looked out the window, by the looks of things she should be home relatively soon. She rubbed her temples, it has been one hell of a day and she is exhausted. It was not long before she felt the car pull to a stop in front of her apartment that she shared with her dad and she pulled herself up and ready to just hop out of the car when her door was suddenly opened by the driver who smiled and wished her a good evening, to which she nodded to as she got out and started up to her building. Just as she got to the doors she could hear the car pulling away from the curb.
Drew took her time walking up two flights of stairs before coming to stand at the door of her apartment. She took her key out and let herself in, there was a tv going in her dads room, meaning that more than likely he had fallen asleep with it on again. She poked her head in his bedroom just to confirm, he was sleeping soundly, his sleep machine whiring peacefully into the night.
She made her way to her own room and slipped into some sleep pants and a tank top. She glanced at her phone again before setting her alarm for work the next day and laid down, the apartment silent except for her dad’s tv. Slowly she fell asleep without too much more thought about the day, but aqua eyes full of mystery seemed to plague her dreams.
