Trapped Butterfly

Chapter 9

Cherrie wakes up to a brand new day feeling blissful and fulfilled. It's the weekend after all. She is eager to spend the day with Apple and discuss their plans for the team building. They are supposed to meet at ten o'clock at their favorite coffee shop.

It is only eight o'clock so she still has a lot of time before they meet. She decides to call Apple to confirm the schedule. Apple picks at the first ring and says that she is excited to see Cherrie. Cherrie proceeds with her preparation. She picks a casual peach dress and beige wedge shoes before going into the shower room. After taking a bath, she towels herself dry and slips on the peach dress. She blow dries her hair, combs it, then applies light make up on her face. At nine fifteen, she's ready to leave the house. It's a thirty-minute ride to the cafe and she wants to be early.

When Cherrie arrives, Apple is already sipping her favorite iced mocha and waiting for her so she gets surprised, "Oh, you're quite early, bestie!"

"Well, as I said, I'm excited to meet you. Do order first and I'll discuss the plans for the venue and catering in a while."

Cherrie then calls the waiter and orders, "a tall iced latte and two slices of blueberry cheesecake for me and my friend".

"Name, please."

"Cherrie"

"Okay. Tall iced latte and two blueberry cheesecakes for Cherrie coming right up."

Then, the waiter leaves. Apple immediately starts asking questions to Cherrie such as the number of people joining the team building activity, the theme, diet restrictions, and more. Cherrie patiently replies because she also wants to ensure that everything will go well. After talking much about work, Apple teases Cherrie about her lovelife to which Cherrie sheepishly grins. Apple is married to a handsome hunk so she also wants her bestfriend to have a great romance. However, Cherrie seems to be a no nonsense workaholic so Apple is delighted to see that smile. She continuously probes her bestfriend and even says that she will not give the discount if Cherrie does not spill the beans. Cherrie just chuckles.
