Pearl Gem I had set my alarm for seven a.m even though I was naturally an early riser. I just couldn’t take any chances, not when the enemies were waiting to say to His Majesty, “I told you so.” But it wasn’t the alarm that woke me. It was the knock on the door. The omegas from next door had come, each bringing advice or a gift. Some brought breakfast, others energy drinks so early in the morning. “I once worked at Majesty Corp, my child,” One of the older women said as she handed me a warm pie. “Scrubbing floors isn’t the hard part, it’s how people treat omegas. That’s what made me quit. It’s a kingdom of its own, where omegas have no place.” “You have to keep your head down if you want to survive. But I’m proud of you, dear daughter.” I nodded at each word and took them to heart. I accepted their gifts gratefully, bowing as they left. Around seven a.m I stepped out to the backyard to water the flowers. They had bloomed into fresh, beautiful petals. As I admired them, the thought of my brother surfaced. For the first time, I forced it away. I didn’t know why, but deep down, I feared how Bright Saint would react to my growing ties with His Majesty. Bright had always been obedient, respectful, and supportive, but what would he say if he knew my first kiss had been with Kade King Majesty? “Who will make the shoe delivery to the nobles now, Miss Pearl?” I turned to see Royce standing over the short fence, a sweet smile on his face. “Royce,” I breathed. “Hey,” He replied, winking at me. I turned the watering can toward him playfully. He chuckled and walked around to join me in the garden. “Good morning,” He said. “It is a good morning,” I replied, smiling. “What if I opened the shop today? Helped you sell for, say… three hours, and then closed up?” My eyes widened. “What?” “You heard me. Besides, you need the money for Father’s surgery. Unless you want to let me help you with that fifteen thousand moon coins…” “No!” I interrupted quickly. “Open the shop.” My heart raced. I couldn’t let him give me that much money, it was too much for any omega to spare. Almost a lifetime of labor. And I definitely wouldn’t let Kade King be burdened with it either. “Three hours, and you close up. Don’t try too hard to impress the customers, okay?” He nodded, understanding what I meant. My father would have bent over backwards for the nobles just to please them. I wouldn’t let that happen again, especially not to Royce, the one person who means the world to me. “You get in that corporation and show them that an omega behind a computer is no big deal,” He said and I smiled brightly. “Should I give you a ride to…” “No, no. His Majesty promised to send one.” *** Earlier this morning, one of the omegas had said that Majesty Corp was a kingdom of its own. I hadn’t realized just how literal she’d been until now. The luxurious car Kade sent arrived precisely at eights a.m, just as I finished getting dressed in my new suit. The skirt hugged just to my knees, the crisp white shirt fitted me beautifully, and the jacket was smooth and soft on my skin. The heels were the perfect size. I couldn’t thank my stars, or Royce, enough. I had slicked my short hair back neatly, added a pair of dangling earrings, and wore the necklace my mother had left behind. When the corporation finally came into view, it wasn’t my eyes that reacted first, it was my heart. The sight before me wasn’t just a building. It was a domain. A kingdom in blocks. I had always known Kade King was powerful, but seeing his corporation, I realized the man I had kissed last night was far greater than I had ever imagined. The car stopped before the towering skyscraper, and I stared at the sheer luxury before me. The parking lot was cleaner than my living room, lined with fleets of cars so expensive they could buy out all the omegas and still leave no descendants behind. Everywhere, staff moved efficiently. They were neat, clean, and focused. I suddenly felt like I didn’t belong. The omega from this morning had been right. This place didn’t belong to omegas. At best, it belonged to those who scrubbed floors or cleaned windows. That was the thought circling in my head when silence fell over the entire compound. The sound of approaching vehicles reached my ears. Slowly, I turned and there it was. Power, at its absolute peak. Kade’s motorcade had arrived, the royal crest gleaming on the lead vehicle. Guards rushed forward, bowing. Staff paused, heads bow in reverence. I bowed too, for I was a subject but curiosity made me peek. I didn’t want to miss his entrance. Beta Leif stepped out first, standing at attention. Riven emerged from the car behind and walked forward to open the door. And then, Kade King. He stepped out in a tailored suit, a fur coat signaling his royal lineage. Gold glinted from his ears and neck. He radiated sheer, undeniable dominance. But then my heart sank. Drizzel. Kade King offered his hand and helped her out of the car. She was stunning. Her glittering dress hugged her perfect figure, making it clear she was his. She must have spent the night with him. Probably made love to him while I was home, foolishly daydreaming. They entered the company side by side. Kade King didn’t look at me once. His hand rested protectively behind Drizzel’s back while she clung to him like a queen staking her claim. The staff straightened once he disappeared inside. I followed, my steps faltering at the entrance. What was this place? It was larger than life. Endless departments, floors upon floors, all under the rule of one man. This man. Kade King Majesty. I stood frozen at the reception, too stunned to even move when it happened again. Drizzel paused. Kade did too. “I will be on my way now,” She whispered sweetly. “Don’t forget tonight.” “I won’t,” He said. Then he leaned in and kissed her, right in front of me, just like he had kissed me the night before. Only this time, it wasn’t my lips he claimed. It was hers. And with that kiss, he left me wondering… Where exactly do I stand in Kade King’s life?
