Chapter 9: Confess Now

1074 Words
My eyes started twitching and my body felt too weak to move. My vision started to fade in as my eyes got wider. There I was. Handcuffed to a chair and tied down in chains to the floor, in the same cabin I was originally in. But I swore I had already left the cabin earlier to start my journey out of this place? How did I end up back here and who did this to me? That's when a tall, buff man walked in with a plate of food and drinks of some sort. I was still in disbelief of how I was still here and if I even left the cabin in the first place. “You slept for quite a while, young lady." The man grabbed a seat in front of me. “Are you gonna explain how I got in these chains and what happened to me?" I started yelling. “I would lower your tone if I were you." “My hands are in chains and I'm completely tied down! WHAT IS GOING ON?!" I started to shake my chair. “You trespassed into MY territory and now I am asking you the same thing, what is actually going on?" The man questioned. I was so exhausted and frustrated that I was tied down, and this man wasn't making anything better. “This cabin is your territory?" “Yes, along with the surrounding area to a certain radius. These woods are not to be prancing around in, young lady." The man stated. “And how did I end up in these handcuffs?" I started shaking my chains again. “You don't remember, do you?" He started warming up the food. “Obviously not!" “You had left this cabin early this morning. I had noticed and you immediately started running, for some odd reason-" “You don't exactly have the friendliest face." I interrupted. “...Which then led me to chase you down and bringing you back here." The man continued and gave me a stern look. All together I started to remember bits and pieces. I did leave the cabin and I did start running. I was hiding behind a tree and he came up right behind me. But who is this man? I just hoped he wouldn't recognize who I was. “What is your name, young lady?" The man asked. I caught myself slipping and couldn't think of another name to use. “It's uh- Yasmine." I quickly answered. “Okay, Yasmine…where were you running off to if I hadn't brought you back here?" “I was going back to the city…" I looked down to the floor. “To the city, I see. You aren't heading back by foot I hope?" “No, I just had to rest for the night, I parked my vehicle quite a from here." The man began to walk around the room, looking suspiciously at me. Something told me he wasn't buying any of this. “A vehicle? What kind of vehicle do you drive, if I may ask?" The man looked me in the eyes. I panicked. “It's just a regular white truck," I murmured. “It's funny you say that, because there are not any vehicles parked in the direction you were heading." He took a seat on one of the chairs. “Well, I parked it very hidden. Can't trust just anyone, right?" I laughed, trying to make it playful. He looked me up and down and started pacing around the room heavily. Hopefully, he'd get irritated enough to just let me go. I wondered if Caleb had given up already. “I'm going to guess your real name isn't Yasmine?" The man interrogated. I sat there in silence. There was no hope. I had walked right into my lie and failed miserably. I knew this was not going to end well, regardless of how it goes. “What do you want?" I asked. “I can't let you go until I know you aren't actually trespassing." The man stated. “Do you want money, gold, anything? Just give me a price and we can get this over with." I exclaimed. “There's not enough money YOU could give me to stay quiet." The man went on.. “You don't know a single thing about me." “I don't, but the city officials will very soon." He responded. I couldn't risk getting caught, not after making it this far. I had to reveal myself and I had to use it as some sort of leverage. “I'm the heiress." I came forward. The man looked me in the eyes and started laughing in my face. “You expect me to believe an heiress is going to be in these woods? With no security?" The man let out. “You can laugh in my face and call me a liar. But if they do find me in your custody...it won't end well." I advised him. “Okay, fine. Say you are the heiress. Now what?" He asked softly. “I go back to where I need to go and we can forget any of this ever happened." “Again, if you are the heiress." He sarcastically spoke. I pointed at my bag for him to hand to me. I opened it and found my watch I had placed inside. I took the watch out to display to the man. This watch was only one of five and had my great grandfather, also known as King Wesley pictured. This was the only proof I had. “One of five, King Wesly." The man kept repeating back to himself. “Anything else?" I implied, sarcastically. “If what you're telling me is the truth. Then you can't leave here," The man abruptly stated. “No. I'm supposed to give you money in exchange for my freedom." I demanded. “That's not how it works now. You confirming that you're the heiress isn't going to make this any quicker." The man stood up and started locking all the doors. I didn't know what to think. If I had just stayed in my room and just kept quiet, maybe I wouldn't be in this situation. If I hadn't met Caleb and thought of a way to go to the city, none of this would've happened. I was yet again a captive and this time in the woods.
