Friend or Foe
After the interview with Catherine Braun, Joy and I decided I would go to my church, South Hill Baptist Church, and talk to the secretary, Angela Kay.
Angela was a lovely person and had been one of my first Sunday school teachers when I was a girl. That’s how long Angela had been associated with the church.
Even when Tom and I had to move out of town so we could afford a home for the family, she was always there. My mom and dad had been fond of her. She and Ernie, her husband—who had been the church’s caretaker for a very long time—were long-time friends of my family. It seemed Ernie had always taken care of our church while Angela took care of our community library. She had been the librarian for over thirty-five years until she retired.
