12 A Beautiful View Joy parked in lane 34 at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. We were heading for Vancouver. With a bit of luck, we’d make the three o’clock ferry. It was now five after two, so we had a little time to look around. It was a beautiful afternoon. The gray clouds from the morning had disappeared; now the sun was shining. The air was fresh, although the wind was a bit cool, and the seagulls soaring high overhead were calling to one another. Everyone in the vehicles around us seemed to be relaxed, chatting and smiling.
