CHAPTER ONE
"Hello!? Hello!! Mom!!" Anna screamed into the phone, her face turning pale and her hands shivering violently.
"Oh my goodness!" She hopped on her bike and rode off, going as fast as she could and ignoring everything and everyone. The fear in her wouldn't let her think straight, she almost ran over a lady but she didn't even stop to check.
"Mom! Please be alright!" She cried as she swerved into a sharp bend. Tears clouded her vision but she kept on going.
Anna just closed from work and received a phone call from her mother, telling her not to come home and remain wherever she was but then the call ended after a gunshot. Anna couldn't just run and leave her mother and siblings alone to face whatever that was, she had to go home.
Within minutes, she arrived at their house and was shocked to see the line of expensive cars lined outside their house. Whoever owned those cars must be rich and powerful, she got even more scared. Who are they?
"Mom?" She called, sniffing back her tears and carefully opening the door. The room was dark but smells musty. She could perceive gunpowder and strong perfume scents. She got goosebumps as she took slow but loud steps into the quiet house.
"Joan!" She called out her sister's name but her cries were met with silence. She sobbed and tried reaching for the light switch. She flipped the switch and the lights came on.
"Jesus Christ!" She screamed, meeting with the shock of her life.
Five large men, each armed with a gun and wearing mean looks on their faces were staring at her. She froze at the spot, hot tears and sweat trickling down her face. She had never been so confused in her entire life.
"Wh.. who are you? What.. what are you doing in my house?" She finally summoned the courage to talk to them. The men remained quiet, the looks on their faces could kill.
"Where's my mother and siblings!?" She screamed at them.
"Oh.. my prize is here." A husky, deep and sinister voice spoke, followed by a chuckle. Anna couldn't see who it was.
The men moved a little bit, making way for the owner of the voice to step out.
He wasn't as huge as the other men, but he had striking facial features that would make any woman swoon. He had the face of a god and deep hazel eyes, one would easily say that he was a beautiful man. Apart from his daring looks, he had an intimidating aura and a sense of danger surrounded him. His name was Darian William.
Anna found herself squirming at his mere presence.
"What do you want?" Her voice came out low and shaky.
"Samson Grey, that's your father right?" Darian questioned. Anna just remained quiet.
"That bastard had the guts to elope with my money." He growled, lighting the cigar between his lips. He puffed out smoke from his mouth and moved closer to Anna.
"Stay away from me! Where is my family? What do you want!?" She screamed, about to reach for the door but Darian grabbed her arm and threw her into the middle of the room. Anna landed on the floor with a shriek.
"I have good news for you darling.." Darian smirked.
"You get the opportunity to marry me." He added and the horror on Anna's face was extremely obvious.
"I'd rather die!" She yelled.
Anna remembered vividly when her parents were talking about taking a loan from a powerful billionaire. Three months after that, her father disappeared and they haven't heard from him in two years. Could this man be the one they took the loan from? She was horrified.
"Well darling, you won't be the one to die if you refuse, your mother and you brother and your sister will have that privilege." Darian chuckled evilly.
"No!! No! You won't harm them!" She sprang up, tears soaking her dress.
"I won't.. if you don't go against me." He puffed out smoke again and walked over to her, grabbing her chin roughly while she panted.
"You are my price, my trophy. I will take you as my wife, as collateral for the huge sum of money your father took. You'll be mine to do with as I please." He grinned and roughly grabbed her boobs. Anna squealed in disgust.
"You're not even worth half of the money." He scoffed and let go of her, causing her to fall again.
"Please, please don't do this. I'm begging you!" Anna pleaded.
She couldn't bear the thought of getting married to the beast in front of her. She could already tell that he would turn her into an object of pleasure and mockery. She didn't want to be anybody's s*x toy, that wasn't the life she wanted for herself.
Anna grew up to be a beautiful and industrious young lady, although she was shy and reserved, she was determined to be one of the finest businesswomen to exist. Everything was going well until her parents went bankrupt, things started to go downhill. There was no support for her education, it was a dark time for her.
She had to drop out half way through college so that the family could feed. But she didn't plan to give up there, she wanted to try against all odds to get back on her feet. So she found a job as a receptionist in a local shop.
But now, all thanks to her father, her life is about to get ruined.
"I'll raise the money, I promise. I'll pay you every dime!" She continued to plead, tears gushing down her cheeks. Darian laughed.
"You can work for the rest of your life and still not make it up." He scoffed.
"I'll call the police!" She threatened, running out of options. Darian spent two minutes having a good laugh.
"The police? I own them." He said, it dawned on Anna that her life was truly ruined.
"Will you or will you not marry me?" Darian asked.
Anna sobbed, she couldn't say no, her family was in danger and she would not be able to forgive herself if anything ever happened to them. She had to sacrifice herself for their lives.
"I.. I will. Please just let them go." She wept.
"Oh no, they're never leaving my custody. But just have in mind that they'll be getting the best treatment as long as you behave." Darian answered, shocking her again.
"Can I at least see them?"
"No." He answered and went to talk to the armed men that had been standing in the same position all this time.
Anna cried and wished that all this would end up being a bad dream. How did things get so bad so quickly? Her heart bled.
She couldn't even see her mother and siblings, what if they're already dead and this man is just messing with her? What if they're injured and hungry? So many thoughts went through her head. She silently prayed that they were alright.
Anna seethed immediately she remembered her father, he abandoned them after selling her off. Why would he do that to her? She swore to never forgive him.
Darian walked towards her again, with two of the men behind him. They picked her up effortlessly and she kicked her legs in the air in resistance.
"Let me go!" She screamed.
"It's time to leave." Darian smiled.
"Leave? Where are we going?" She questioned.
"To our wedding of course!" Darian smirked.
Anna's eyes popped out of their sockets.
"Wedding?"
