Chapter 17: Sweet Dreams“Come here, little one. I'm not going to hurt you,” a calming voice called out to Peyton in what seemed like another world.
“Who are you?” she answered the peaceful voice.
“Come over here. There's something I need to tell you.”
“That's not what I was told to do.” Peyton stood in the field all alone. The sky stretched out for all of eternity in every direction. She saw nothing but blue skies, reassuring flowers, and this unknown presence that spoke to her like an old friend. She couldn't be sure as to whether it was male or female, or if it was human or supernatural.
“You can trust me,” the voice said so smoothly that Peyton thought she might fall asleep to its sound.
“Trust you? I don't even know who you are.”
