Abandoned Love

“Jessica!!!”, my mom screamed, “make sure you wash the dishes before going to school”, she said as she stormed out of the door. After ironing my school uniform, I washed the dishes and left for school. My mom had already gone to her store where she sells fruits and my dad works as a security man in a factory. I'm the only child of my parents.We live in a city called Kingston, I'm in high school, I just resumed my 12th grade at Modern high school and my parents have been struggling to see me through. When I arrived at the school the principal was at the gate checking students who dressed improperly. “You are always a good student, you don't dress improperly to school and you always obey the school rules and regulations”, The principal said. I smiled, proud of myself and went towards the assembly ground. Teacher Lucy came on the stage at the assembly ground and gave us some piece of advice and urged us to be serious with our study and we went to our various classes School just resumed a new session so we had new teachers, our English teacher came in and the topic was suffixes. He was still teaching when the principal entered our class with this tall handsome boy, his hair so dark with brown eyes, clean uniform, expensive wrist watch with matching expensive shoes. You can easily tell he came from a rich family, all the girls in the class were already crushing on him because he was so handsome. The principal told us he is a new student and our new classmate. He introduced himself as Paul before he could finish, Some girls had already made space for him to sit close to their desk. The English teacher showed him where to sit and continued his teaching. The bell rang for break and immediately almost all the girls in the class rushed to his desk. They were all asking him questions, which school he came from, who his parents are. Both boys and girls wanted to be his friend though he was jovial and proud. After school a Black Bentley came and picked Paul. Most of us that trek home can definitely tell he is from a very wealthy family and that day onwards, girls were throwing themselves on his feet. Mostly Jennifer, she put on make up while coming to school, wore a skimpy dress just to gain his attention but it seems he didn't notice her. *** The class was noisy and I went to the library to read. I was still reading when someone came in and sat beside me to my greatest surprise, It was Paul my heart almost sank into my stomach. To be honest I really like him and how jovial he is but I can't afford to throw myself on him like other girls so he won't see me as a cheap girl. He asked me what subject I was studying “maths” I replied smiling, “ohh I see it seems you are good at mathematics", he said smiling back “ I nodded”, “I would like you to teach me” he said politely “ okay” I said while still smiling you can easily tell I am in love with him. We met everyday at the library during break or during Free period to learn mathematics together. We talked about each other, laughed , and it was so fun being with him. His cute smile and seductive eyes made me fall for him more and more. Paul is the only child of Mr and Mrs Lucas just like me, his father is the CEO of Shillings bank,he just turned 21 last month. I asked him what a son of a wealthy man like him was doing in a school meant for the average, “my previous classmates were all arrogant since the school were meant for children of the elite and I wanted a cheerful classmate so I have to plead with my father to change school” Paul remarked I smiled “so you are not arrogant like other rich kids?” l asked him “ Noo…you know that” he answered. “You are the most beautiful girl in the class and you are smart too. I really like you” he said playful, “ Ohh really I didn't know I was that beautiful”. We went back to class and I kept blushing each time I remember those words he said to me, “ so am really beautiful” I keep saying to myself with smiles beaming all over my face. Soon everyone began to notice the closeness between me and Paul. Some girls were not cool with it, especially Jennifer. She was obviously jealous and angry with me. “Hmm it seems you and Paul are now lover birds” Sandra said” Sandra is my classmate and my neighbor too we go home together everyday after school “ No we are just friends nothing else” I replied “Just friends?? ” Sandra asked I immediately introduced another topic to avoid the conversation. Few days later, I was on my way to the canteen to get some cookies when I saw Paul and Jennifer laughing together. My heart shattered, I pretended like I didn't see them and left immediately. The next day I was reading when he came to join me. I stood up about to leave the library when he held my hand and asked me what the problem was. “ What are you doing with that girl ?” I asked angrily “Which girl? He asked “I mean Jennifer. "Nothing, we were just laughing over some silly things,” he said and apologized to me and we continued our daily activities Few weeks later, He asked me to be his girlfriend, I agreed almost immediately like I have been waiting for that day. The next morning he came to school with a lot of goodies and flowers for me. I was the happiest girl that day and I know so many girls wished to be me. Jennifer was so raged and annoyed, you could see it written all over her face. “Stay away from my man you b***h “ Jennifer yelled at me but I ignored her because she was obviously jealous and angry with me but I didn't care Paul already asked me to be his girlfriend. The school prom is fast approaching and I am supposed to be Paul's prom Queen but I always see him around Jennifer. I feel bad seeing them together and I hope he won't choose Jennifer as his prom Queen.
