Beca walked to the bus stop with Chloe since both of them had to take the bus to go to their homes.
"My place?" Beca asked before getting in the bus.
Chloe nodded and paid the driver.
"What do you need help with?" Beca asked standing next to Chloe's seat.
"Aren't you going to sit down?" The red head asked.
"I never sit down." Beca shrugged. "That day was an exception." she added before her friend could say something.
"Why not?" The red head wondered.
"Around 100 people sit there. You have no idea if somebody farted while sitting on that seat or something." She explained as she took a hold of the seat before the bus took a sharp turn. "Besides I’m short and it’s easier for me to see the stop."
"And you look more badass." Chloe said without realizing what she just said.
"I'm always badass, Red." Beca said smirking.
Rolling her eyes, Chloe let out a small laugh. "Anyways, I need help with basically everything." She said standing up.
"We have, like, 2 stops ahead. You know?" Beca asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah well, now I think these seats." she gestured to the seats. "Are gross, so, thanks?" Chloe said sarcastically.
"My pleasure." They both let out a laugh.
After leaving the bus, the pair walked to Beca's porch.
"Shit." Chloe said looking at the floor.
"I’m flattered, but you can try to call me by other names. Nicer ones." Beca said sarcastically. “You idiot.” Chloe said pushing her to the side. "No, I stepped on some dog's little gift."
Beca looked at Chloe's foot and saw the little incident. "Oh. You can wear one of my shoes then." she shrugged.
Beca took her keys from the back of her jeans and opened the door.
Beca's house was nice, she wasn't rich but she wasn't poor either.
"Welcome to my kingdom." Beca said leaving her backpack next to the door. "Just kidding, not my kingdom, I can hardly watch TV when Satan’s home."
Chloe guessed one of her parents was Satan so she didn't ask, she just smiled. “Therefore…”
“Satan’s kingdom.” Beca finished. "You can leave your shitty shoe in the cleaning room." Chloe rolled her eyes at the pun before looking at Beca confused because she had no idea where the cleaning room was.
"Oh right." Beca said. She then took Chloe's shoe and disappeared behind a door.
A minute passed before Beca was back. She grabbed Chloe's bag and carried it upstairs. The red head took that as a cue to follow her.
"I'm gonna go find something to eat. That..." The brunette said pointing to a door. "Is my room. Look for some shoes you like and put them on."
Chloe opened the door and Beca's scent hit her. She loved how Beca smelled, it was like a mix between coconut, peach and maybe, a glint of vanilla?
It took her some time to realize she was in Beca's room. It was a nice room. Three of the walls were grey, Beca's bed was against one of the walls it had two shelves with books and CD's above it. The other wall was black with some pictures of her small friend.
There was a window on the black wall, right above a computer; Chloe noticed some post-it notes sticked to it and DJ equipment.
There was an electrical piano, a mixer, an equalizer. She had no idea Beca did this kind of stuff. There was a TV screen against the wall in front of Beca's bed, next to the door and a PS3 on a little desk next to an Xbox.
Chloe had to remind herself why she was actually there, she only needed a pair of shoes. That was it. Opening Beca's closet, she began to try figure out where the shoes were. She knew Beca wasn't a tidy person however, her mess wasn't as big as she pictured.
I see she likes flannels Chloe said to herself when she saw the amount of flannels that Beca owned. Finally, she spotted a pair of shoes, the only shoes there were red converse and a pair of blue vans. She opted for the converse since it matched her red tank top.
Sitting on Beca's bed, she took the time to watch the pictures on the wall and the desk. There were a few of Beca with another brunette who Chloe could swear she saw somewhere and a guy with brown eyes. Others were of Beca with another kid who was brunette as well but with longer hair than the other one, there were some pictures of that guy with Beca and her other two friends.
"Did you find something?" Chloe jumped at the sudden voice. She turned around and saw Beca with two glasses on one hand, orange juice under her arm, 3 packs of gummy bears and cereal on the other hand.
"I'm using the converse, hope you don't mind." She said swinging her legs.
Beca shook her head. "Not at all." She placed the food on her bed and took out her math book from her backpack. Chloe sat there, awkwardly, looking at the brunette in front of her.
"Shall we?" Beca asked smirking snapping the read head out of her thoughts.
"Huh? Oh sure."
Beca spent the next our explaining math to Chloe and finishing the cereal all by herself. The red head was kind of worried by the fact that she really wanted Beca to audition for the Bellas and she had an hour before audition started.
"Any question?" Beca asked without looking up.
The girl who was supposed to be paying attention was about to insist again with the auditions but she couldn’t help but notice a picture of a guy. "Yeah, who's him?" She said pointing at the desk with the computer behind Beca.
Beca, confused, left her book and fixed her gaze on the place Chloe was pointing.
The picture Chloe was looking at was the same boy who was in Beca's picture with her friends, he was laughing, there was nothing else than him in that picture.
Chloe noticed how Beca's body tensed and the brunette quickly looked back at her book. "A friend." she simply answered. "An old friend?" Chloe pushed genuinely curious.
That was a chapter Beca didn't want to read again. "He was one of my closest friend." she said after a long deep sigh.
"Was? What happened? You fought?" The intrigue was getting bigger by the word she was now really Intrigued about this guy, he could be Beca's boyfriend. She really didn't know if Beca was taken.
"You're pretty nosy, you know." Chloe nodded like if she was proud of it. "I'd love to tell you but this is a story for another day, okay?"
Chloe nodded again with a small smile. "Sorry." She began to feel like she was being a burden by asking all those questions but she was relieved that Beca didn’t snap at her for being so nosy, there was an uncomfortable silence between them for some minutes. "I should get going. Do you have a bathroom?" DUMB QUESTION, BEALE.
"No, sorry, we pee in the backyard." Beca replied rolling her eyes. "It's the left door next to my room."
With a fake laugh, the red head left. Chloe didn’t need to use the bathroom, but the nerves made her ask that. She took out her phone and sent a text to Aubrey.
To: Bree I’m heading to the auditorium, I’ll be there in 15 :)
After "using" the bathroom, Chloe took her stuff and said bye to Beca.
She made her way downstairs to the front door, she opened it and right before leaving, she realized she was still wearing Beca's shoes which obviously meant she left hers. She closed the door and made her way upstairs to Beca's room.
She was about to knock when she heard a beautiful voice coming from the room.
"I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose. Fire away, fire away. Ricochet, you take your aim..."
Suddenly, the door opened and Chloe met face to face with Beca who screamed at the sudden encounter with the red head, dropping everything she was carrying on the ground.
"You CAN sing." Chloe said with a huge smile.
"Dude." Beca said on her knees cleaning the mess that she's done.
"How high does your belt go?" Chloe said getting on her knees as well.
"My what?” The brunette asked looking at Chloe, not noticing the shattered glass below her hand until it was too late. “Oh my god." one of the glasses was broken and without realizing, she cut her hand with a piece of glass.
"You have to audition for the Bellas." Chloe kept saying.
"Damn." Beca said looking at the cut that had glass on it and then back to Chloe. "I can’t concentrate in anything until I have this thing clean and without glass." She stood up and walked towards the bathroom, Chloe following her behind.
Beca took the emergency kit and opened it. "Chlo I need a favor."
Chloe was a little taken aback for the way Beca just called her, not that she disliked it but it was out of nowhere and sudden. "Look in here for gauze, alcohol, a pin and tape while I clean this."
Chloe did as Beca told her and took the stuff she asked for. She noticed there were some pills for depression and anxiety; she couldn’t ask any more questions after the amount she asked back in the bedroom. "Sit there." Chloe said.
Beca sat on the toilet and Chloe got down on her knees, she took the pin and started to take out the little pieces of glass. At first, Beca felt weird with Chloe touching her hand, but she had no other option.
Beca's expression was still, she didn’t show pain or anything but Chloe felt the brunette's hand tense from time to time.
"Done." Chloe said standing up grabbing the pieces of glass. "Do you need help with...?”
Before Chloe could ask if she needed help with the gauze, Beca was already putting alcohol to the cotton cleaning the cut and wrapping her hand in gauze like a professional, like if she has done it before. Chloe knew Beca had a lot of secrets.
"Thanks." Beca said putting all the stuff back to the kit.
They left the bathroom and kept cleaning the spilled juice and the other broken glass.
"Let’s make a deal." Chloe said out of the blue.
Beca sighed, not in the mood to deal with her anymore. "What kind of deal?"
"If you audition to the Bellas, I’ll help you to finish cleaning all." Beca acted like if she was thinking about it, and then shook her head. "Please, give it a shot."
"Still a no." Beca started to walk up to the kitchen.
"I will buy you 5 boxes of frosted flakes." Chloe suddenly said.
That sentence made Beca stop in her tracks. "How...?"
"I’m more of an observer. You literally just finished a whole box by yourself." Chloe said walking next to her. "Also, if you audition I’ll stop bothering you."
"I’m already helping you with math, isn’t that punishment enough?" Beca said smirking, earning a slap on the arm. "I’m kidding."
Chloe narrowed her eyes at her.
Rolling her eyes Beca continued to throw the broken glass away. ”You don’t bother me anyways.” She shrugged, giving her back to the red head.
Chloe’s heart warmed at the nice comment and her head shut up for a second. She wasn’t a burden.
The clock in Beca’s wall snapped her back into reality. "You have 30minutes to think about it." She said grabbing her stuff again. "See you at auditions."
Beca stood in her kitchen watching Chloe walk away. Was she really considering this?
