Beca walked back to her house, she decided not to take the bus so she could have more time to think.
She stepped on her porch and saw a plastic bag tied to her door. She took it and made her way to her room, knowing her mother wouldn't be home till 9 PM or so.
She sat on her bed with the bag between her legs. She opened it. Her heart warmed at the sight of three big boxes of her favorite cereal and a note with perfect writing glued to it.
"I don't break promises, thanks for auditioning Becs :) Chloe."
Well s**t. She placed the note under her pillow and stood up. She couldn't let her down, if she wanted to build a relationship with this girl, she had to be in the group.
She looked at her phone, looking at the time. 5:48 in the afternoon.
The initiation started at 6. She had to run. Beca ran downstairs and out of the door. She had to be fast.
After a good 10 minutes run and almost being killed by cars or old ladies walking slower than a fat turtle on the moon, Beca made it to the school. She remembered where she was being dragged 40 minutes ago.
1 minute left.
She saw a string of blonde hair walking to a room; she jogged behind the blonde and touched her arm.
"Shit." Aubrey said, obviously impacted by the touch.
"I...I would." she said between long pauses to take air. "Say the same."
"You're as red as Chloe's hair. Did you think about it? The blonde replied raising an eyebrow with half smile.
"Just give me the bag." Beca surprisingly said without dying.
The things I do for Chloe. She wasn't even sure why she was doing it.
Aubrey took Beca by the wrist and placed her in a specific spot for the altos.
"The sopranos. Jessica, Mary Elise, Lilly.” Beca heard the blonde say, followed by a few little squeals. “The mezzo-soprano. Cynthia Rose, Stacie, Kori. And our altos. Fat Amy, Denise, Ashley and Beca." Beca felt Aubrey's hands taking the bag off her.
Stacie and Chloe's reaction didn't go unnoticed by Beca, she saw the way both of them turned their heads to look at her, their faces showing clear surprise.
A big genuine smile grew on Chloe's face.
"Now, if you'll place your scarves in your right hand." Aubrey said as Chloe handed yellow scarves to the girls.
"I knew you would come." Chloe whispered handing the scarf to Beca who offered a small smile.
"I, sing your name..."
The girls repeated after the blonde, everyone singing names at the same time sounding unharmonized.
"Promise to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a Bella woman." They all repeated what Aubrey said.
"And I solemnly promise to never have s****l relations with a Treble maker or may my vocal cords be ripped out by wolves." There were some responses full of doubt and confusion.
"You are all Bellas now." The lights filled the dark room.
Everybody started celebrating.
Everybody except for Beca, who looked lost and uninterested. What the hell did I just get into?
"No, I'm not gonna join Stacie." the taller brunette said mocking Beca’s voice.
"It was against my will." Beca replied.
"Yeah sure." Stacie rolled her eyes placing her long arm on Beca's shoulder.
The girls walked together to some "aca-initiation night" that took place at the school's quad.
"I don't know what I’m doing with my life." Beca whispered to Stace, who apparently didn't hear it.
“Just living the dream. I still can't believe they let my sexy fat ass in." a girl replied to Beca.
Beca could swear she saw that girl a lot of times at school.
"I've never thought the Beca Mitchell would join us." The same blonde said.
"Are you a kidnapper or something?" Beca scoffed. "How do you know me?"
"We have some classes together. You're like the sassy queen." Beca furrowed at the comment. "I mean, your little ass is always being sarcastic and you act like a total badass."
"Thank you? I guess..." Beca trailed off.
"Fat Amy, by the way." The girl said extending her arm.
"Should I ask why you call yourself like that?" Beca sat on a bench, waiting for the girl to do the same, which she didn't.
"So twig bitches like you don't do it behind my back." Amy looked confident and happy with herself. Beca liked people like that.
Beca was about to say something when she heard a familiar voice calling her.
"BECAW." Jesse, who else could it be?
"What's up Weirdo?" She said standing up.
"Badass Beca is a Barden Bella, huh?" Beca noticed that her friend had a little issue to stay still for a second.
"Dude are you drunk?" She took the cup from his hand.
"Maybe." He shrugged, a big goofy smile on his face.
A song started playing in the background and Jesse started dancing. Beca knew what was about to come.
"No." she shook her head. "Nononono. No way."
Jesse took Beca by the wrist and dragged her to the center of the quad, where there was a lot of human beings. "Dance with the ol' jess."
Beca had Jesse's cup, it still had some liquid in it, and so she drank it. Her throat started burning; she felt that familiar feeling again.
She needed to feel it again. "I'll be right back. I’m just going to grab a drink."
Beca walked to the table full of drinks. She saw Chloe, making out with a guy she didn't know. Full make out session right in front of her. This weird feeling began to burn her stomach and her skin to shudder.
She filled her cup with vodka and some other drink and drank it in one shot.
That was the burning she was looking for.
"JESSEEEEE." a pretty much drunk Beca yelled At Jesse some minutes afterwards. "Dance with moi."
He placed his hands on her hips and started dancing, bouncing, laughing, falling.
"You're a horrible dancer." Beca laughed at her friend.
They got closer by the second. Faces only inches apart.
Beca had no idea what she was doing and she had no idea when did Chloe appear.
"Beca?" she yelled from behind her.
"cHLOeee hey." She let go of Jesse and wrapped an arm around the redhead's neck.
"Okay, someone's drunk. Come on." Chloe helped Beca to walk. Seeing Beca so chill and happy made Chloe giggle a little, this probably wasn’t the best moment to talk to her but who cared. "I'm so glad I met you. I think that we're gonna be really best friends."
Beca nodded with a goofy grin as Chloe sat her down on a bench.
The brunette was basically falling asleep on that bench.
"You smell nice." Beca said placing her face on Chloe's neck, sending shivers down Chloe's spine. "I wanna go homeeee."
Beca snapped Chloe out of her thoughts, she was more than glad Beca was drunk enough to not see Chloe blushing.
"Okay, help me to get you on your feet. Do you think you can do that?" Beca nodded and tried to stand up, failing. Then shook her head no.
God, this is like taking care of a child. Chloe said to herself.
"Plan B. I need you to stay here and don’t move, okay?"
"B as in Beca." The tiny girl laughed. Chloe couldn't believe Beca was acting like that making her laugh. I have to record her.
The redhead looked for Stacie, the only person who knew Beca besides Jesse.
For Chloe's surprise, Stacie, was tipsy, but not drunk.
"Stacie." the tall brunette turned to see Chloe.
"What's up, Beale?"
Chloe wasn't sure how to ask her. "I need a favor." she said nervously.
"Hum, sure. What is it?" Stacie was pretty unsure if she should agree or not, she had no idea what the red head could ask for.
"I need help carrying Beca to her house." she saw the taller girl’s reaction and knew she was about to say something, Chloe was pretty sure what was Stacie about to say. "She's drunk." that made Stacie close her mouth.
Chloe showed Stacie where Beca was. She pointed at the brunette who was lying on the floor sleeping, they hoped. "Oh shit."
The two girls grabbed Beca by the hip and placed one of her arms on their shoulders so it would be easier to carry her.
"Is anyone at her house?"
"I don't think so." Stacie said re-adjusting the arm that was around her neck. "Her mother works until 8PM and then goes to eat with friends. You never know if she'll be home at 5am or the next afternoon."
Chloe nodded. She never heard about Beca's dad, What about him? "What about her dad?"
Stacie stopped walking for a second and looked at Chloe in the eye. "I don't see anything wrong in telling you this." Stacie shrugged. "Her dad is pretty much dead for her." she said softly.
Chloe was speechless. That probably had a big impact in Beca's life. "Is that why she's so closed and insecure?" Chloe was getting curious by the time.
"That's something she'll have to tell you, Missy." Stacie laughed. “People are the way they are.”
Their arms were giving up by now, even though Beca was light to carry thanks to her petite body.
They walked dragging said girl for a good 40 minutes, having weird looks from some people in the street.
"Finally." Stacie said. She passed her half of Beca to Chloe so she could look for Beca's keys.
Chloe held Beca tight and close to her. She had her face so close to hers. It was dark, Beca was drunk and asleep, but the red head thought she looked beautiful.
"Guess what." Stacie said with a huge fake smile that Chloe noticed.
"The keys are inside, aren't them?" Chloe asked not sure if she wanted to know the answer, Stacie nodded.
She grabbed Beca's feet this time, Chloe grabbing Beca from the shoulders. Stacie signaled with her head the direction, Chloe didn't ask, she just followed Stacie.
"I’m taller so I’ll help you to jump." Chloe looked at the 2 feet wall in front of her.
"What." She was so not going to do it.
"You step on my hand, you climb the wall, I’ll pass Beca from above the wall while you're sitting on it. Then I help you to get down." Stacie explained.
Chloe looked At Stacie like if she was crazy. "Is this even legal?"
Stacie shrugged. "Who cares? Now, come here." She said laying Beca's feet on the floor.
Chloe stepped on Stacie's hand and used all her strength to sit on the wall. "Now what?"
"You have two options. You jump to the floor or I’ll pass Beca over the wall and you take her." Stacie told her.
Chloe looked down; she's never liked heights "The second one?"
"Ha, you're funny." Stacie said climbing the wall by herself, leaving the sleeping DJ on the floor. "How am I gonna pass to the other side?"
"Easy." Stacie said placing Chloe's Leg that was on the other side of the wall. "Don't hit your face."
Chloe furrowed At Stacie's "advice".
"Use your feet." Chloe didn't have time to answer before Stacie pushed her from the wall.
"Thanks." She said sarcastically after falling, hitting her face.
When she looked to the wall, Stacie wasn't there anymore. Before she could freak out, her phone started buzzing.
"Stacie?" she answered.
"Yay, I see you're alive." Chloe rolled her eyes, but of course, Stacie couldn't see it.
"Anyways, open the door." Stacie said.
"Where are the keys?" Chloe asked looking around the place.
"b***h please, it’s Beca. She never locks the door."
Chloe did what she was told and opened it, letting Stacie carry Beca in.
"I'm gonna take her to her room. Would you stay with her? I have some stuff to get back to."
