Chapter Seven

549 Words
Erin sat in the bathtub. Her body hurt worse than ever. She has never felt as empty as she did in this moment. Mason had never been this angry, she must have really screwed up. She could feel every blow over and over again. She could not believe Adam showed up and helped her. She had been helping herself for a year now, actually more like five years, but now she was used to it. Now she was exposed, she had her guard down. Will he hurt me? She thought. She would not even give him a chance too. All her walls needed to be up, especially now. If she opened up, she would get hurt just like every other time. She soaked in the bath as long as she could. She closed her eyes. She was at peace and let the darkness envelope her. She managed to get out of the tub and looked at her broken body in the mirror. It was a horror scene, she didn't even recognize herself. Painfully she pulled his giant t-shirt over her head, she didn't know why, but it comforted her. She took in a breath and inhaled Adam's scent and let herself calm down. She didn’t know how long she was in there, but it wasn’t enough to wash away the night.  She slowly started to open the door when she saw Adam standing there with a worried look on his face. He rushed to her and carried her to the bed. Every time he touched her it sent an electric spark inside her. She has never felt this way. It scared her. She couldn’t figure him out. What did he want? Why would he help her? She needed to know before she was back in the same position. But something inside her pulled her towards him. He was charming, and his touch gave her a feeling of protection. But so did Mason… She knew he wouldn’t want her long. He doesn’t know her baggage. He doesn’t know what’s happened. Neither did she. She didn’t know how she ended up here. One choice after another, it spiraled out of control. And she knew it was her fault. She messed up, she should have just agreed with Mason and her body wouldn’t be crying. Her heart wouldn’t be in pieces. She sat back against a giant pillow and looked any where but Adam's gaze. He was fixing the end of the bed, and got her a glass of water. He seemed restless, like he didn't know what to do next. He ended up sitting on the couch next to the bed. She just looked at him for a while not wanting to speak first. Their eyes met and he gave her the most handsome smile. She couldn't help but feel butterflies swarm around her stomach.  "Thank you... for helping me" she said, trying to calm the emotions she had.  "It's not a problem. I'm sorry that... I'm just sorry, Erin" he said and cast his eyes down.  The sound of her name from his lips excited her.  "If you need anything let me know, I'll be down stairs. Try to get some sleep". He gave her a smile and left without another word.  Erin leaned back in the comfy bed, she was exhausted, she couldn't help but fall fast asleep.
