Kane frowned thoughtfully and ghosted the pad of his thumb over her cheek. His gaze lingered on her lips, resisting the urge to kiss them, before returning to her eyes. “Why would you protect me?” Tabatha kept her mind completely blank as again the truth came, “They needed to concentrate on Micah… he’s the one in danger. What happened tonight could wait until they return with him.” Kane slowly nodded, agreeing with her logic. “You did the right thing, love. Misery is very dangerous and she wouldn’t think twice about killing them.” He placed his other hand on her other cheek and looked deep into her eyes, “I don’t want you to remember seeing Misery tonight. You’re better off without that memory staining your mind and the shifters do not need leads to follow that will only get them killed.
