Part 1: The Noticing

"Maintaining long distance relationship will be too tough for me, I mean, what if I cheat?" I read the text in my mind as I stared at the glowing screen. I can't believe after ten months, he is throwing that to my face. Was our relationship that small to him that he is scared of cheating on me? I'm tired, it has already been a month since we broke up. I've tried to fix it but we are done for good, now that I think about it.

I look at myself in the mirror, since the day we broke up, I kind of look haggard. The first step on moving on is to dress well. I took out my beautiful red dress and put on red lipstick. Decorated my eyes with a winged liner and put my hair to one side. After a long time, I felt pretty. "Not that bad" I murmured staring at my reflection in the mirror.

"Are you ready yet?" I heard my mom saying. "Almost done!" I say loudly as she is in another room. I clicked some photos first before heading out, it's been a while I have clicked my own picture.

"We'll have to stop by EIT to give some books back" said my mom. I was furious, I needed to show off how perfectly fine I am without him and make him regret but now she will stop by somewhere else?!

Agitated, I got there with mom. Climbing up the stairs, I noticed someone was sitting there. It's Jake. We glanced at each other as he smiled. I was too agitated to smile back, moreover, he is my first ex's friend.

My first ex, Nolan, I never could like him properly. I had to say yes to him because of peer pressure and I regretted it so much. We only dated for few months, but it was nothing extravagant. Later, I dated Nathan to get rid of Nolan. If I had known he would breakup with me like this, I wouldn't have listened to his friends when I wanted to breakup for good. That happened a year ago and now I'll have to deal with this heartache.

I went to class and as time passed by, I realized he won't come today. Dejected, I continued with my studies that was at stake from all this emotional rollercoaster rides. It wasn't just my love life and studies that was going downhill, my family created their own share of problems to take away my peace at home.

Few days later, I was at the same class when suddenly my best friend Lizzy called, "Hey, where are you?" I heard her saying through the phone. "I'm at physics class, why?" I replied nonchalantly. "The thing is I needed to tell you something" she said excitedly. "What happened?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Remember Jake?"

"Um, yeah, I saw him few days ago" I replied.

"Suddenly, he was kind of showing interest about you."

"What? How?" I replied while trying to hide the fact that I'm way too shocked.

"Well, I shared a post on f*******: on how happy I am that you finally broke up with that peasant and he texted me asking about you! At first, he thought it was about Nolan but then I cleared it out by saying it's about Nathan and that you two broke up" she said without taking a break and confusing me.

"But doesn't Zola like him? Moreover, he has always made fun of me everytime we encountered."

When I used to have classes with him, I remember how he would always mess with me and it would get me all furious. He even ate my dumplings once while I was at the bathroom, I was saving it for the last!

Now that I'm hearing all this from Lizzy, I am baffled!

I'm still in a hurry as my class will start soon so I just replied that I'll have to hang up now as I'm getting late.
