The Man I Love (Part 2)

The First Talk

After reaching home, I texted Lizzy asking about the conversation between her and Jake. "Send me the screenshots of your messages with him, let me see what that man wants." Honestly speaking, I never liked his audacity. Every single encounter we had in the past year, it made me want to beat his as*. Except the first encounter, I kind of found him attractive back then. Not gonna lie, I wanted him as my man rather than Nolan who turned out to be a f*ckboy later on. I can't believe he cheated on me with his ex! Well, we never talked much anyway.

"He is actually a nice guy" said Lizzy when I told her about everything, then she proceeded to say, "How do you remember so many things about him?"

My eyes widened from realization, indeed, I remember all our small encounters all too well. Even the time, when I saw him walking into a restaurant wearing white t-shirt with Lizzy's boyfriend. Did a part of me actually liked him? I wondered.

"I just have good memories, it's nothing serious" I scoffed. "Well, he is a nice guy and he did a lot for his ex but she cheated on him with her ex, just like you and Nolan."

"Don't even talk about that guy, ugh, I hate him! I should've just crushed on Ian instead of dating as*holes."

Ah yes, Ian, the best guy in town who looked like a gentleman. He is my first crush and I couldn't stop hoping to cross paths with him. "I just had a breakup, I really don't want to go in another relationship now..."

"I'm not asking you to date him, but do talk and see what happens. What if he is the one?!" She said excitedly, "We can be 'the best friends dating best friends'!"

"Okay, okay, if he texts me I'll definitely reply. Moreover, Zola has been crushing on him for months. I don't think so it will be appropriate..."

"Oh, f*ck Zola! My bestie deserves the best man!" Said Lizzy. Seeing her enthusiasm, I smiled, I must be the luckiest girl to have a best friend like her.

Few days passed, Lizzy hasn't talked about Jake much. I knew it was nothing serious, she was getting excited for nothing. Suddenly, she texted me a screenshot of her and Jake's text, there was a screenshot of his conversation with Zola as he wrote, 'I shouldn't talk with Naomi or else it will break her heart.'

Lizzy said, "See, such a nice guy he is. Ugh, I hate Zola! She even hated me because she liked my ex, she is just too much!"

"Meh, it's okay, I wasn't interested anyway."

I fully threw everything that happened out of my mind and proceeded to focus on my studies. It is hard to study at home, my parents can't stop bickering.

Four days later

11 Am, I scrolled through my newsfeed, looking at memes when suddenly I got a text from Jake. Wow, that was sudden, I told to myself. I quickly texted Lizzy informing her he knocked me asking about who is my maths teacher. Lizzy laughed out loud saying, "What a stupid way to slide into your DM!"

I chuckled, "Well, we know each other so he approached me in a friendly manner. I like it."

I've never liked men who approaches talking about past love or flirts with me. We talked for a while and I can't believe that it felt like I've talked with him for ages. It's the first time we are texting and actually talking. Let's see how it goes.
