CLARISSA’S POV The chill of the ice seeps through my skates, but I barely feel it. My heart pounds with exhilaration as I weave between players. My stick is steady in my hand and my focus is razor-sharp. The puck slides across the ice, inches from my blade. Janine is right on me. Her skates cut into the ice as she tries to close the distance. But I’m faster. I shift my weight, faking right before twisting left, making Janine stumble just enough for me to take control of the puck. My teammates shout encouragement as I race toward the goal.
