A New Hope

Chapter 17

I woke up with a start and in a cold sweat. Looking around frantically starting to panic then I smelt Gabriel's scent and sighed grabbing his pillow and hugging it to my chest while I filled my lungs with his amazing smell. Somehow smelling even better and stronger than when we first met in Phuket.

Heightened senses were apart of the werewolf thing, but we had no idea how much stronger my senses would be. No one has ever met a Luna reincarnation, let alone one that has been experimented on then biten with werewolf venom.

"Does my cooking smell that bad?" Gabriel laughed from the doorway bringing me out of my daze.

"I didn't even smell any food, your scent smells amazing" I held the pillow tighter hiding my blush.

Gabriel laughed even harder and crawled into bed pulling me to his chest and covering me with kisses.

"Surely this is better than my pillow?" I nodded as I traced my fresh mark on his neck making him shudder.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and into his hair kissing him and making his breathing quicken. I could feel him growing beneath me.

"Mmm f**k Hope, we have plenty of time for that later. We need to eat and go meet my father then speak with the whole pack" He softly kissed my forehead and jumped out of bed.

Before I could object or pout too much he came back with a breakfast tray making my mouth water. After arranging the pillows behind me and pointing for me to relax he set the tray over my lap.

Fresh coffee, a bowl of fruit, bacon and sausage, sunny side up eggs, toast, and hash brown's. Everything looked and smelled so delicious, its hard to believe I didn't even catch a wiff of any of it until now.

"Mmm thank you Gabe! Did you make all this?!" he looked a little offended then smiled at me devouring the food.

"Yeah I did, I'm not an amazing cook, but I do alright."

"Its amazing!" I told him between bites.

His icy blue eyes lit up and his gorgeous smile took over his face, showing off his adorable dimples.

"Glad your happy baby, once your done eating grab a quick shower. I'm just going for a quick run and letting my dad know to come by to meet you." he told me making me raise my eyebrows.

"We could always go to his cabin, he doesn't have to make a special trip for me... and what should I wear? I don't have much experience with meeting the parents!" Gabriel laughed at my nervousness.

"Anything you want to wear... hes not up to date on the fashion world. And he doesn't have a cabin... he has a cave. Hope, you'll be meeting him in his wolf form so your going to connect with him same way you did with Alice" he kissed me on the forehead and left me with a confused look on my face.

His father lived in a cave? Like a man cave or a secret lair? And why wouldn't he just meet me face to face, was this some kind of pack initiation. Why was Gabriel being so vague.

I sighed as I finished my breakfast and got up to put it in the kitchen. For a log cabin it had a really nice little kitchen. A beautiful gas oven and matching stainless steel appliances gave it a humble modern look. It was all open concept so you could watch TV while you cooked.

I did my dishes noticing that Gabriel already washed the pans and his own plate, leaving them to dry on the dish rack. The cabin felt cozy, but looking out the windows enhanced the effect feel enclosed in the lush green forest.

I walked into the bathroom, there was a simple stand up shower and a big claw foot bathtub. I gave the tub a longing look before jumping into the shower. Gabriel made sure to have toiletries for me so I didn't have to smell like a man.

I got out of the shower and frowned at the clothes I had been wearing that were laying on the ground. I guess I'd borrow some of Gabriel's clothes until I could go buy my own... or get my own?

Shit, I probably got evicted, everything that I owned was probably thrown out and my landlord assumed I was missing. I never missed rent before and it really bothered me. Actually I wonder if anyone other than work or my landlord noticed my absence. I was supposed to be home over three weeks ago.

"Its all just material things and some bad credit" I sighed to myself then heard the front door open and close.

"Hey why so down?" Gabriel asked with a concerned look on his face.

"I don't have any of my clothes and I just realized that my landlord probably thinks I'm missing or dead and tossed out everything I own and I probably lost my job" I pouted to him as he pulled me in close to him and gently kissed me.

"I made sure all your bills were paid so nothing of yours got thrown out. You lost your job but theres always more out there... even you want to work but you no longer need to." I threw my arms around his neck making my towel fall.

"Oh thank you thank you thank you! I'll pay you backend! And of course I need to work, money doesn't grow on trees!" Gabriel just laughed at me as he picked me up.

"And you do have your own clothes here and new ones" he said as he walked me over to the second bedroom in the cabin.

He put me down so I could look around. There was no bed in the room, Gabriel had turned it into a walk in closet. I walked over to a dresser and opened it, first pulling out some underwear and putting it on before continuing to open other drawers.

I looked back at Gabriel in awe. Not only did he pay my rent, he brought my clothes here. I pulled out my favourite pair of skinny jeans and paired it with a plaid long sleeve blouse. I slipped on my neon pink hoodie and turned to Gabriel smiling ear to ear.

"You really are so f*****g amazing, I love you to the moon and back!" I smiled at him as his eyes lit up.

"Anything for you my moonshine, I love you too" he pulled me in for a kiss. "Now get some shoes on my fathers waiting"

I put on the dino high tops he got me in Phuket and followed him out the door.

"I'm nervous Gabe" I was holding his hand walking further into the forest.

"He's felt our bond and is bonded to you so he already likes you... even without a bond he'd like you" he smiled down at me with kind icy blue eyes.

He started taking off his shirt then pants making me first stare with lust then confusion. He let me watch and winked at me before dropping his boxers. His perfect body more beautiful then the ancient forest we stood in.

"Mind out of the gutter babe, I can't make people share their thoughts with me so I'm shifting for our talk." He chuckled before shifting.

I've seen wolves through his eyes and even last night I saw a few giant wolves walking around, but I've never seen a shift before. Watching him I was slightly disgusted at his human form basically ripping and splattering away for a wolf to take place.

Even as a wolf he was perfect. A huge golden brown wolf was now standing before me his icy blue eyes met my own green eyes. He cautiously took a step forward, reading my reaction. I willing closed our distance and held his giant muzzle in my hands. I noticed his tail wagging and giggled.

"Gabe even as a wolf your perfect" I kissed his wet black nose and he licked my face. "Mmmm yeah your wolf kisses aren't the best tho"

He licked me again making me wipe my face again then he turned to the trees. I followed his look and saw, a black wolf emerge from behind a tree. He was big but not quite as big as Gabriel and had white and grey to his muzzle and scruff.

Hello Hope, I'm Gabriels father Michael, its nice to finally see you in person.

"Its a pleasure meeting you sir, but I'm wondering why I'm the only one in person?" I walked up next to Gabriel.

I haven't been able to shift back to human since Gabriel's mother passed away, I watched Gabriel grow up from afar so he could have a chance at a normal life. I always knew he was meant for greatness in the human world, but never expected him to be extraordinary in the supernatural world. I have you to thank for that.

The giant black wolf bowed his head to show his gratitude to me making me blush from the compliment.

I am so sorry you had to go through so much pain and fear Hope and that its not over. I want you to know that your safe here and the pack provides for its own. But since you have a soul of a goddess, we are bonded to you and will follow you, kill for you, and die for you. You must be guarded with your thoughts and understand how powerful they truly are and might even grow from Gabriel's venom as well as the injections.

"Are you saying I could just think of revenge and pack members would go and do it? I don't want to control the pack, I don't want anyone dying for me!" my voice got higher and higher as the fear of hurting others sunk in.

Baby take a breath, he's not accessing you, he's warning you to be careful.

Gabriel nuzzled into me as I took a breath, trying to keep the fear at bay.

Hudson is going to help you control your thoughts or set up guards. Hes used to teaching control and maybe you'll surprise us all with control like Gabriel did.

Gabriel's wolf scoffed and I elbowed him.

"I don't need to hear your thoughts to know what that meant, I know I'm spontaneous."

Now I hate to make you and the others re live your experience, but David will be asking you all for interviews for every last detail of what happened. We need to work fast so he will be starting tomorrow. You also need to make sure you don't shift yet, let's try to hold off on that as long as possible, there's too many variables.

I nodded my head in agreement.

We also would like to run blood tests and possibly other non invasive medical test on you and the others, the more we know about those injections the better.

"I'll agree to that as long as it is only to find out what it is and not to start ongoing experiments... and once we do all the data is destroyed." both of them nodded looking at me.

The others are our guests and pack members, we will have a ceremony tonight, but they are not allowed to leave the compound for any reason. For everyone's safety as well as their own.

"Is there anyway we can aid their families, I know we can't say hey their not dead! But like a charity or something?" I asked looking from wolf to wolf.

We can talk to Cassie about that later.

Yes as long as you keep our names away from it. We don't need those men knowing we are connected to the survivors. And you will both be meeting the council, Alice as well.

"Why Alice and what council?" I asked him confused.

In order to survive we have a council with rules. Not many and simple, but punishable by death. When Alice turned the survivors she broke a rule.

"She didn't do it for shits and giggles that can't kill her!" I shouted as my hands started to shake.

Baby calm down listen to him. Hes talking about his own pack here!

"So what will the do?!" I said running my hand through my hair.

She did it to save their lives, your life. Under the circumstances she chose the lesser evil and I'm sure they will understand. She still needs to see them though.

"Alright and why Gabriel and I"

We decided to keep the information about your increased abilities to the pack itself  and not to tell everyone about the Luna and Sol myth.

Gabriel and I agreed, it seemed like it would cause more trouble then good to have the supernatural know a goddess walked among them.

The best way to explain how you bonded to the pack and command them is to make you Alpha and omega of the pack. The council won't buy any other story.

Wait I told you I didn't want to be in command, that we aren't ready for this. Hope just got back and hasn't even shifted yet!

"Gabes right, this is your pack not ours. Yes we are apart of it but not in charge!" I shook my head in disbelief.

I was never a leader, I did my own thing. I couldn't have that many people look to me for guidance!

I'd command you two to obey, but it wouldn't work and that's my point. I will be here for guidance and not much would change right away. Everyone already looks to you two like the head of the pack and it makes sense.

I can't do this two you, I can't replace you.

Gabriel sounded half defeated like it was a losing battle.

If you don't do this you could put Hope in danger and the whole pack at the same time. This is the best way for me to protect my pack. I know you guys want to do best for the pack so the announcement will be tonight.

Gabriel and I sighed together, we were defeated.

This is an honor not a death sentence. I'm proud you turned into such a great man Gabriel and honored that Hope is your mate. Now go relax and get ready for tonight's events, I'll see you both there.

Michael turned and disappeared back into the forest before either of us could respond. We could still reach each others thoughts, but it felt like we would be ruining his sudden exit.

Gabriel shifted back so fast it was hard to comprehend how he wasn't in pain or his body out of sorts. He stood staring in disbelief at the spot his father had just stood.

"I'm sorry Hope, I knew most of what he was going to discussed, but that last bit I'm just as surprised. He mentioned it before, but I said no."

"Its okay, its not your fault. You run a business and lots of different companies, your used to leading you'll do great... I'm just me, I'm not inspiring or someone to follow."

"You are just you i wouldn't have it any other way because you are mind blowing. Sweet, caring, funny, empathetic, and kinda happen to be a goddess who bonds to every werewolf around her. You may have never known it, but you were born to lead." Gabriel bent on his knees infront of me and held my hands while he spoke from his heart in a fierce sincerity.

I felt my heart flutter looking down into his eyes that obviously saw me different then I see myself.

"Thats super sweet, but hard to take serious from a man but naked in the middle of the woods" I chuckled at him making him laugh with me.

There was also a tux and dress shoes for Gabriel left with a note saying "For tonight. Main lodge for 7pm"

"Is the announcement that big of a deal that we have to be this dressed up?" I looked at Gabriel with raised eyebrows. "Like my makeup and hair are going to be simple and probably look silly with that thing!"

"Well I mean if you keep your hair like that it will! " he roared with laughter.

"And do i have to make a speech, should I write something down? What do people even say during something like this?!"

"Calm down, you don't have to say anything, I can do the talking. From what I've heard of previous ceremonies, we get introduced as the new alphas and the previous acknowledges out leadership in front of the pack. Then a huge party." Gabriel pulled me onto his lap while he explained.

"So all I have to do is stand beside you infront of the pack?" I asked meekly.

"Exactly, unless you want to say something. Then after we are announced the new alphas the new pack members will be acknowledged and officially welcomed."

"Ugggh this still sounds terrifying!" my complaint made him laugh.

"I'll be holding your hand the entire time and they already love you! Now come on we need to shower and the ceremony starts in two hours."

"I think we only need twenty minutes to get ready" I winked at him as I stripped down.

He spanked my ass and we both hoped in the shower, doing much more than just getting ready for the ceremony.
